I love for Gods Glory but will die to be glorified which is a great gain
There are so many amazing verses in Philippians that speak to us today. True this can be said of the entire Bible, yet this book is special in many ways to me. Thank you for your love of God and sharing His Word!
I am a covenant member of The Village Church where Matt Chandler preaches weekly among 3 campuses. It’s so interesting to me how well he grasps how to speak the truth in love. One week he called the congregation leeches, a wayward people, but with a tact that ultimately advocates repentance, throwing ourselves before the cross of Christ. It’s tough to hear, but very beneficial.
It is nice to watch someone like Tommy be consistent over the past 20 some years. Praise God.
Acts 29 is legit. Press on Brothers
Excellent giveaway!
have just opened this page and am happy to see also my mentor tommy nelson. hey i cant wait to hear philippians bible study.
Hurray for Philippians! I hope I win!
Pick me! π
Guys you have brought the word of God so nearer to us we thank God for new technology we can access your website so easily
This is all kind of new to me so not sure what is required of me. Phillipians struck me because a life time ago when I was confirmed Phil. 1:6 was the verse given to me. Praise God He is not done with me yet.
Sounds like a great Bible study!
I love the book of Philippians because it’s about joy. I haven’t read any of that book in a long while, though.
Looking forward to hearing Matt at Catalyst. It’s going to be incredible this year!
Just wanted to throw my name in the hat for the Philippians study! LOVE Matt’s teaching.
Might as well do it a couple of times
You know…to up my chances!
I really like the passion I see Matt Chandler. He is terrific.
Matt Chandler is a great teacher who isn’t afraid to come across as a regular guy. That’s a lot of what I appreciate about him.
I absolutely adore what Christ has done in my life through Matt Chandler and Mark Driscoll. He has matured me and revealed the true gospel to me. I listen to Chandler b4 bed every night- it’s the perfect way to end the day.
Matt Chandler. I’ve only heard him preach once. Loved it. I don’t know about Catalyst for I’ve never been to one of their conference. It’s hard to live with an unsaved family here in Vegas. Prayers appreciated for a brother here! Just found out about this by Matt Chandler in Twitter btw. God bless everyone!!
Before my wife and I married I remember listening to Tommy Nelson’s Song of Solomon message over and over and over again. It’s been an influence since then in our seven years of marriage.
God consistently uses Matt Chandler to challenge and deepen my faith.
Last year at the Catalyst conference Matt Chandler should have been given the main stage for several hours instead of a short 25 minute session…. Just sayin… Looking forward to Catalyst in two days.
Can’t wait to study Philippians with Chandler.
I really enjoy listening to M. Chandler preach, and find his sermons speak less about him and more about the supremacy of God in the world.
WOW! What an awesome Bible study! I wish you guys all the best and may God touch lives and bless each one of you as you bring God’s Word to hopefully thousands!
God bless, Sarah
Count me in.
I attended the Mark Driscoll conference teaching on Song of Solomon…what a phenomenal teaching! I am still processing his words and it’s been months! I even have gone to Pastor Mark’s church website for additional teachings. He is a powerful speaker. I am so thankful for godly people who allow God to work throught their lives!
I just wanted to let you all know that you’re doing a great job for the gospel. Keep up the good work. May Christ be exalted in all you do!
Iβll just leave one comment and let God work out the winners. The thing I like the best about Matt Chandler is his passion for Jesus Christ. It is so refreshing to see someone who cares little what men think, preach like they really believe the bible and are consumed with HIM.
Oh! I really hope I win : )
i was just baptised the other day. i accepted christ into my heart and its been the experiance of my life. praise the Lord!!!
For Bible study I usually read in the morning and at night time. Lately though it doesn’t seem right for me to read God’s word just to check it off my list if things to do. It has been like that for a couple of weeks. I pray things change on that matter. I truly want to study the scriptures even if my family thinks I’m weird or hates me.
Excellent book of the bible and I’m glad to see that Matt has taught through it. Blessings!
Did I mention that I like Mark Driscoll? (I feel as if I was just making conversation to no one lol) Yeah I even downloaded the Mars Hill app for the iPhone. Good stuff!!
Excellent website. I wasn’t familiar with the Hub until i saw it on Matt’s twitter feed. Blessings!
Thanks guys. This is a great idea.
I’ve seen several teaching clips of matt’s online and have always been blessed by them. I bet this is good stuff!
Hopefully I won’t get kicked out for writing too many comments lol. I like your site btw. God bless you all.
I am encouraged by your ministry.
I love the way these men have been gifted with the ability to speak truth (in love) to this generation. God has uniquely enabled them to communicate truth in a time when many avoid it!
This is pretty exciting.
If it’s possible one of these years (sooner than later I hope?) I will go to a Catalyst conference.
My wife and I attended the SOS conference and it was eye opening to see how much God cares about sex and relationships between husbands and wives. SOS was always a book I would breeze past or totally ignore because I never knew what it really was about. Great job everyone!
And yes I’m posting every comment from my iPhone ξ
Praying for all the families and individuals dear to those of The Village Church community to have job security to go with their Eternal Security! Thank God for Bible studies for our hungry souls!
Psalm 119:105
Love Matt Chandler, God has gifted him in the area of teaching!!
Tommy Nelson has been a great source of inspiration to me through my years in college I’m lookin forward to getting know more of the other teachers available here, thanks for being there.
I hope I win this!
You Rock! Keep preaching the word and letting the Lord lead your every step!
go hub!
Did I mention that Philippains is my favorite book!
Philippians is the book we are going through in the bible study I am leading. Amazing truths for all of us.
Oh and did I mention I was woken up by a Twitter message about this contest. It was perfect, exactly how I needed to be woken up. I like contests like this. Equal opportunities for all.
I really Like Philippians 2:1-11
Great Stuff!
I would like to know more about Mark Driscoll.
I’m so glad there are two well known Mars Hill churches. Otherwise I would have never found Driscoll, then Sproul, then eventually this! God is good!
The Lord used Tommy Nelson’s ministry to intervene in a mighty way in our lives. After re-committing our lives through his challenge, we have used many of his materials to teach our own family as well as in our church. We have given away probably close to 50 SOS series over the past 10 years to people who have also been helped through his ministry. We are currently awaiting some teaching CDs from his church’s site. My son is an officer in the Army and he often listens to Tommy online.
Thank you for your years of faithfully and practically communicating the word of God…..Thank you for being a real man and yet a godly man. The men of this generation need an example like that!
Also thanks to the Hub for expanding and continuing the ministry that Tommy began.

I LOVE JESUS
I love Tommy Nelson’s teaching. He is very entertaining which makes learning easier. I also loved his book “The Big Picture” and I am re-reading it.
I’m flip’ing for Philippians!
I love the passion that all three of these guys have for the Lord! It’s very encouraging in this day of ‘feel good’ churches that have a hands off approach to the gospel
Yes oh yes, I a, flip’ing for Philippians
Thanks for using your gift!
Pastor Mark Driscoll was recommended to me by a Christian friend that is my accountability partner. There are two series that I have enjoyed the most: Redeeming Ruth and The Peasant Princess. Several years ago, I attended Pastor Tommy Nelson’s Song of Solomon lecture at Calvary Chapel in Fort Lauderdale. These teachings have helped me grow deeper in love with Jesus. I’m still praying for a Godly husband, but I know that no matter what I have the love of Christ to sustain me. Both pastors delivered their message with such clarity. Thank you!
oooh. This would be sweet to have.
I want to win the DVDs and camcorder!
I love that Matt Chandler just digs into the Word. Sounds simple…but I think it’s hard to come by in preachers.
I like Matt and Mark because they are not afraid to speak truth.
Glad to hear from you. We attended one of Tommy Nelson’s ‘Song of Solomon’ conferences a few years back in Orlando, FL. Loved, Loved, Loved it!
I really like how Matt Chandelor and Tommy Nelson don’t ambilish the Bible. With all the pastors that bend the Word to fit their “gospel” it’s refreshing to be under the leadership of Tommy Nelson. My husband and I have grown substantially since we began attending DBC!! Oh And the Love Song series is amazing!!
Mark Driscoll and Matt Chandler have rocketed to the top of my playlists. They are blessed by God with the ability to rightly divide and proclaim the truth of Jesus and His Word.
Thanks for propping this new study and doing the giveaway!
Ethan
Would love to study Phillippians, has some of my favorite verses! I have SOS and have enjoyed sharing it with others.
Good stuff @catalystvthis year! Will travel anywhere to hear drischoll and Chandler! Keep it up guys!
Hey Guys – I appreciate all of your teaching. As I listen on my ipod, I am encouraged often, rebuked more often, and always challenged. Thanks – Tom
Thanks for making these teachings available. I enjoyed much of the Song of Solomon videos.
I like and appreciate what y’all are doing to share the Word. It is becoming increasingly difficult these days to hear the Truth over all of the noise. I enjoy Mark’s straight-up style and his fervor for Biblical truth. I can see his passion.
One of the best tools that I use for learning the word is podcasts. I have a job where I have the time to listen to podcasts and I currently subscribe to seven or eight different podcasts. Would you guys ever consider doing a podcast? Or maybe you already produce one? If it’s the latter, I was not able to find it on the website.
Keep up the good work!!
I have had the honor to sit under Matt’s teaching on several occassions over the last 12 years. God uses him in a mighty way. When he teaches God’s word, lives are changed. I know this study on Philippians will be no exception. I am looking forward to hearing what God has to say to me through His word and his servant, Matt.
Tommy and Matt,
I appreciate your clear teaching of the word. It has been of value in helping me grow to know my Savior better. Thank YOU!
Philippians is such a great book. What a wonderful Bible study!!!
I have been a pastor for over 20 years and discovered Tommy Nelson’s series on Song of Solomon only in the past 7 years at the advice of my brother who is also a pastor. I was so impressed with the material that I had our church purchase the DVD’s and we have been using them ever since for marriage counseling and marriage enrichment. Great videos and very practical. Thanks Ken
My favorite thing about guys like chandler and Driscoll is that they simply teach the Scripture. They don’t fluff it up, and they don’t water it down. It’s the good stuff!
I’ve been so blessed by the teaching ministry of Matt Chandler. This is my first time visiting your site, but will definitely be back to check out the resources and study materials.
Philippians sounds great!
I am excite about this year’s Catalyst conference. This will be my fifth year attending the conference and I always go away feeling refreshed and renewed. I am look forward to this year. I can’t wait. I know Matt Chandler is going to do an awsome job. You will be in my prayers.
Great material! have heard speaker before and he will impress you!
I fell in love with Tommy Nelson 13 years ago when I heard his song of solomon series on tape when I was a single woman. It helped me understand so much. Then, my fiancee and I got the chance to see him in person at Two Rivers Church in Nashville, TN. It set a standard for the beginning of our marriage. My brother and sister in law struggled during a period of time in their marriage and we invited them to our house for supper over a couple of weeks and took care of their little girls while they watched the videos. Both of them decided to stay together and they have been active in ministry and fell in love with each other all over again. Tommy was such a blessing. Blessings to this ministry.
It is truly a blessing to my ears to hears God’s word being delivered by those He has chosen. I am learning God’s word thru Sunday shcool and Bible study at my church. However, there was a time when i didn’t know God. But have come to realize that he was always there. So I thank you from the bottom of my heart for stepping up to your calling. Stay bless.
Glad that your site is becoming a great resource for the Word of God and relevant teachings for daily Kingdom living.
My family and I have recently joined The Village Church. I am so thankful for men like Matt Chandler, Mark Driscoll and John Piper who preach the GOSPEL without watering it down. I grew up in churches filled with rules and regulations that didn’t get to the meat of the bible. In short time that we’ve been attending, I’ve learned more about the truth of the bible than I did in several years of church attendance.
Was blessed to take students to Student Life Mission Camp this summer where Matt Chandler spoke. It was wonderful to hear “missional messages” at missions camp. We were blessed by the Word delivered through Matt, co-pastor, and worship of Andy Melvin Band.
The clear and real communication of the positive headlines of Jesus is powerful, effective and transforms lives for eternity. I’ll never forget an early talk given by Driscoll about what ever happened to preaching. Instead, we get people on couches in sweaters sharing. Preach, I say…Preach! Peace out.
I have personally greatly benefitted from both Matt Chandler and Driscoll’s preaching. I’d also love to get my hands on this series! My church is looking for a good group study and this would be perfect. Money is tight for us these days so winning this would rock.
Wishing I could go to Catalyst!!! π Would love to hear Chandler & Driscoll!!!
Whoo who! – Shout Out to The Hub for a most coveted Philippians Study.
Matt Chandler is one of the most honest, scriptural and fearless preachers of the Word I have ever heard. His insights constantly challenge my attitudes and hang-ups in my pursuit of Christ. I have been blessed over and over by his devotion to preach the word of Christ, unaltered and uncompromised. I’m looking forward to the Philipians study and the fresh views on a timeless message.
God bless you ALL bunches for being such a blessing to others!!!
To Live is Christ & To Die is Gain. That is one of the most profound statements in scripture to me.
Thank you for this resource! It is wonderful to get solid Biblical teaching by men who clearly love the word of God in one place.
Matt chandler is a boss
Even though I live on the other side of the world from guys like Matt Chandler and Mark Driscoll they have had a massive impact in my life through their preaching of the Gospel. It’s great that people are so willing to be so generous in making their teaching available for free online. It’s a demonstration of the gospel to other leaders around the world.
Thanks for the chance to win! Have a great day!
Michelle
I love Matt Chandlers teaching because it gets your attention and at the same time drills truth into your heart. His funny and strait to the point
I like Mark Driscolls teaching because he so about Jesus that you can’t help but hear it in almost everything sentence he says.
I have recently really come to lean on the book of Phillipians, especially 4:4-8. I would LOVE to get Chandler’s study on this book and go deeper!
Truth is a difficult thing to come by in today’s world. The world is trying to market the notion that “there is no truth, and that’s the absolute truth” or “what you believe is your truth and what I believe is my truth”. God’s word is our weapon against these worldly teachings. There is only one truth and it is absolute!
A Godly man:
1. Rejects Passivity
2. Accepts Responsibility
3. Leads Courageously
4. Invests Eternally
Fight for what matters most!
Tommy’s teaching has always stuck with me through the years…insightful, funny and challenging.
I would love to hear all that Matt Chandler had to say about hte book of Philippians! I’m so sad I’m missing Catalyst!
Love the SoS conference and the Eccelsiastes DVD with Tommy!
If it as good as previous stuff? i know we will want to see it.
Thanks
Home address: 189 Golden Pointe Road, Spencer, TN 38585. (Wasn’t sure if you wanted email or home mail)
I have listened to many of Matt Chandler sermons. Actually I started a study in Luke and used his sermons as a reference/study help. I’m doing the same thing for Ecclesiastes. Matt is very insightful and has a heart for people who don’t know God or people who are searching for truth. I’ve also used Tommy Nelson in the study of Ecclesiastes. I used it this morning as a matter of fact.
I am blessed to be part of The Village Church
Would love to hear the study on Phillipians, and the study on Romans.
Love getting your e-mails.
If you are a parent, listen to Mark Driscoll’s messages on Proverbs for parents. They are jam packed with instruction and wisdom, and they are very encouraging.
Ooh! What a great give away. I am looking forward to engaing with this teaching on Philipians. The Lord has recently lead me to Philipians 3:10 and I have found myself struggling/praying through that verse. I love the verse until you reach the part about suffering and that part I am not all that eager about. Praying that God would reveal His glory so much that the suffering is pure joy so that I can be further united with my Savior.
i am absolutely inspired by the way Matt Chandler preaches the Word!
Hey- free Jesus stuff? I’m up for that!
I love your ministry. Thank you for relaying the wisdom God has given you!
It is so refreshing that your ministry focuses on strengthening men for God and in turn strengthening marriages. We need strong marriages today more than ever!
God bless your ministry!
I love the fact that Matt Chandler is not afraid to step on your toes with the gospel. I cannot wait to hear from him at Catalyst.
Sweet. I’m IN!
Me please! I wanted to buy it at the SOS conference in Austin!
Hey, I’m gonna be at Catalyst!
I just love Tommy Nelson! My husband and got to go to one of his SOS conferences and it was great! I love how he teaches straight from the Bible and doesn’t add to or subtract anything from it. He’s funny and really helps you to understand what the SOS book is really about and how to use it to help your marriage.
I hope I win!!! π
Studying God’s word is my hope and my life. The days when I am away from it I recognize the evil I have within me. My heart is so very unclean. I have been learning about laying down my life recently that I may take up His cross. It has been difficult learning this because I am such a sinful person and very selfish. But as I make my way along this journey I learn that it is a daily seeking of the Lord through prayer and scripture and that I must be coated with His word to prepare me for what will come.
Oh, yeah, and speaking of Philippians, our BIble Study Group is going through it right now! That some providence; maybe I”m meant to win this thing. π Or perhaps a little plug for our church plant, Veritas Community Church in Campbell, California. We are a church plant our of West Hills Community Church in Morgan Hill. It is not the usual church gathering although we are very usual in a historic sort of way: sound, passionate, exposition preaching; loving fellowship and discipleship; growing in faith and love; encouraging, exhorting, instructing and edifying, desiring to become more like Christ, and glorify Him. If you are in the area, visit us.
http://www.veritascommunitychurch.org/
I am so inspired by you guys! God bless!
Philippians is one of my favorite books! This will be a blessed series!
Tommy Nelson’s SOS was one of the first studies I attended as a new Christian several years ago. As a single adult, it helped shape my new life in Christ. I’ve always wanted to thank him for allowing God to work through him and teach so many…including me! Thank you!!! π
So thankful for this ministry. God has used these Godly men to bring Him MUCH glory. I listened to the Tommy Nelson SOS series back in 2000 when I was 19 and engaged to a guy. It opened my eyes to God’s design for marriage and showed me MANY red flags in the relationship that I was in. God ended this relationship and I’m SO thankful! Just last weekend I went to the Mark Driscoll SOS conference and am thankful for his boldness and passion for Jesus. Thanks for all you do!
Last year was my first experience at Catalyst, and it was an awesome time of challenge for me! The worship was deep, and God spoke to me on many levels. I am excited to be going to Atlanta on Thursday to see what is in store this year!
I love the teaching of Tommy Nelson.
Stacy Richmond
I really enjoy everything that Matt Chandler does. He has inspired me to go deeper with my walk with Christ, and for that i am extremely grateful.
My dating life and my now married life has been richly impacted by the teachings of Tommy Nelson. I love his honest, Biblical, yet light hearted approach to what relationships can and should reflect in the name of Christ. And praise God for Matt Chandler and all of those that continue to carry the torch.
I’m a young pastor from Virginia. Over the last 3 years, God has used men like Matt Chandler and Mark Driscoll to encourage and equip me. I’ve learned the value of listening to guys like Matt, Mark, John Piper and Tim Keller…men who love Jesus, preach the Word, and seek to make disciples of all nations. Listening to their podcasts and reading their books have been a gift of grace over the past three years.
I love listening to Matt Chandler preach. He makes the text clear and helpful.
Mark Driscoll’s gospel preaching has been a turning point in my life.
i praise God for Matt Chandler and his devotion to celebrating Christ from the Scriptures!
Wow, my husband would love this. Philippians is his fave book of the bible. This would be a great gift for him.
Thanks!
I really love how Mark Driscoll and Matt Chandler are never afraid to speak truth. If the bible says it, they will teach it!
Matt Chandler is the junk. First heard him on John Piper’s site. He is now my human hero.
oh, and our youth pastor is speaking through Philippians right now, so i think he would enjoy that series.
Sounds like a great deal!
oh, and i really like Mark Driscoll too.
kinda runnin out of things to say here so, why don’t we just call this whole contest thing off and send me the prize?
no, seriously, i got nothing else…
Something Matt once said that was funny in a way, but also very convicting and encouraging:
“Let your wife worry about your clothes. Buy books and study. We donβt need any more well-dressed, hip, funny, heretics. Who cares how you say it if what youβre saying is wrong?” β Matt Chandler
Matt Chandler is probably the one of the greatest teachers/preachers of our day. I thank God for him, and I CANNOT wait to get my hands on this Philippians Bible Study.
This Philippians series is a must for your next group Bible study!
Matt is a great communicator!
its refreshing to hear truth from Chandler and Driscoll and Piper. love these guys!
Would love to get a hold of this series…too expensive for me to buy. Chandler has a unique way to preach the gospel, would hope that I could get this to share it with my small group bible study!
Matt seems to strive daily to give all glory to God.
Matt Chandler is an anointed (I don’t use that term lightly) pastor/teacher. It is a privilege to attend The Village Church – not just because I get to sit under his teaching, but because he and the elders of The Village have intentionally created a culture of Biblical community there that is unlike any I’ve experienced. I’m psyched about the Philippians resource, because it means that more people will be able to access his teaching.
Awesome series! Thanks for committing to the speaking truth.
Tommy Nelson has been someone I watch/listen to for many years. His communication of the Bible (in podcasts etc..) has been on my ipod for years. I listen to God through Tommy and know that He is in control.
The passion God has given these men to proclaim his word is amazing.
So wish I could make it to Catalyst this year! Love hearing the teaching of Mark Driscoll and Matt Chandler. To God be the Glory!!!
I also like Philippians.
I enjoy listening to Matt Chandler because of his passion for teaching/preaching straight from the Word of God.
sweet….I hope i win.
Paul was a great communicator, also!
Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints. (Philemon 1:7) Keep speaking the truth. Speak it boldy, graciously and in meekness.
Even though we like to hear Matt speak “hard” truths to us are we just letting our ears be tickled by them or does that truth penetrate and by the Holy Spirit change us? Don’t fool yourself (James1:22) thinking that because you hear a lot of great teaching that it means anything. I am speaking to myself.
Matt Chandler is one of a few living heroes of mine. I’ve been told you’re supposed to have dead heroes, which is probably true, but he is a great living example.
Matt is an awesome teacher.
Doug Hudson… I love it when I see the Lord leading my brother. I am for you! Thanks for the Daniel stuff. It helped me as I taught through the series.
And ya, leaving a comment to enter in a contest… seems a little shallow. But, there it is.
Would love the opportunity to have a copy of Matt’s Philippians study. I’ve been blessed by his preaching ministry. The Flip Mino would be cool too π
Thanks for doing this giveaway!
A few “insights” from a blog about one of the Resurgence Conferences that made me smile:
“Piper doesn’t have a TV and wouldn’t plug it in even if Mark bought him one.
Mark was thankful that Piper gives him and Chandler some slack on the rope, and Piper just doesn’t want them to hang themselves.
Piper makes fun of the music at Mars Hill.
Chandler has a photo of Piper on his fridge.
Piper thinks that Doug Wilson has a bunch of dumb guys around him (cue the Driscoll and Chandler fist pump).
We are still in the dark how much Piper can bench press.”
My wife and I went to a Tommy Nelson conference with some friends while we were still dating in college. We got to hear from him again at a college ministry conference Greensboro, NC. If hearing from Tommy twice before marriage isn’t “starting on the right foot”, I don’t know what is! It was a great way to start our dating relationship and our marriage is still benefiting years later from Tommy’s insight. Thanks for serving!
Saw the promo at SOS with Driscoll in Austin. Very passionate! I’m excited to see it.
Why not? Maybe I will win this one…I never win anything.
When I think of Mark Driscoll and his devotion to Jesus I get a fire in my spirit. I don’t want to exalt a man over Jesus, but commend him on his efforts to living an EPH 4:1 kind of life!
Philippians is a wonderful book. I’d love to hear this study (sounds wonderful). Can’t wait for it to be released.
Hey guys!
Just want to say that I appreciate what you’re doing and I look forwards to working with you guys in the future. I have really enjoyed Matt’s preaching style and his unwavering example of preaching the real Gospel of Christ. We need more men like him in this harvest. Driscoll too!
Sorry I can’t be at Catalyst. Pray God explodes in that place.
Wold love to win the Philippines series, oh yea and the flip too!
I was introduced to Matt Chandler recently and have not been able to get enough of his Bible preaching. I connect the most with his background, being raised in evangelical churches focused on thematic studies instead of reading through books of the Bible. I am thankful that he preaches the cross of Christ endlessly.
Listen to Chandler’s podcasts all the time. Definitely a blessing to me. Driscoll’s series on Spiritual Warfare and Song of Solomon are just really awesome. I recommend them all the time. Sad I’m missing the Catalyst conference, but looking forward to hearing all about it and praying God works in a mighty way!
It never ceases to amaze me the different works of the Apostle Paul and I love Philippians and how Paul encourages and invites them to hold fast to their teachings and affection for Christ
This looks great!
Matt Chandler is a great speaker because he keeps everyone’s attentions but also ties back whatever we’re laughing at to a relevant concept in the Word.
Philippians is one of my favorite books – joy in the midst of facing hard times. I’ve heard both Tommy Nelson and Mark Driscoll speak. These guys are very gifted communicators who are not ashamed to preach the truth. I’ve never heard Matt Chandler, but I look forward to seeing if he is up to snuff with Tommy and Mark.
As far as the truth goes guy, we can agree the only truth is God’s truth revealed in the person and work of Jesus Christ. To live is Christ and to die is gain. Something I honestly have difficulty understanding. I know we can understand the point behind that but I don’t think we can truly grasp that unless we are faced with our own mortality for the cause of the Gospel.
I was planning on going to Catalyst this year but found out that I had 4 major midterms on the days on/immediately after the conference…Wish it was in the summer or winter =/
OOOO Pick me! Pick me! *jumps up and down with hand high!
Looking forward to hearing this study.
I thank God for Matt. (By the way Matt, if you read this, I also thank God for those early morning studies in your living room in Abilene. Ever since then, I’ve made a point of meeting weekly, one-on-one with another man of God and have been blessed incredibly by the discipline.)
Yeah, it’d be really awesome to win this. We’re preaching through Philippians, so it’d be cool to get his perspective on things.
Philippians 1.6 [NASB] | For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
I’m a HUGE fan of Tommy Nelson and Driscoll – preach it!
As far as how I go about learning and studying.. I am usually studying along with Chandler. I have been going back and studying through the book of Luke along with his sermons.. I think it is important to get in the Word and not just hear it and take Matt for what he says. Not that He is saying anything wrong!! Ha ha. But to be doers of the Word and not just hearers. I look forward to being able to go through Philippians with him and to bring others along with me.
Matt is a great man of God. I’ve been following his preaching since my days at Grace in Abilene back in 2000…I cant wait to use this Phpians series with the young adults I work with! Keep em coming, Matt!
TJ
I first got to know Mark Driscoll through his podcast, and youtube “related” videos led me to Matt Chandler. Both of those pastors have been a vital part of my daily routine, as I am able to listen to podcasts while working. That’s one of the ways that God has given me to keep His word before my eyes, and bring me conviction and comfort – I get to listen to His word preached for free, and it’s a huge blessing.
Not even sure what a Flip Mino Mini Camcorder is but I know I need one.
And i used Nelson’s Song of Solomon series to teach my Youth Group. It took me over 15 sessions! And the students LOVED it, but more importantly God used it in powerful ways.
I flipped when I heard Chandler’s Ecclesiastes series.
I really love you guys and the studies and messages that that you bring. I wish you would come to Ottawa Ontario Canada. May God continue to bless you and your minitries.
I cannot believe how well Matt Chandler expounds on the word for someone his age.
I also flipped when I found out that he knew my wife’s family back in the Abilene days.
I absolutely love listening to and learning from Mark Driscoll, Matt Chandler and Tom Nelson! The way they present the scripture is both enlightening and enjoyable, a real joy to the Christian soul.
I love Philippians…wish I was in Texas…
Last comment – funny, but good stat about the Song of Solomon series I taught on using Nelson’s material – over 12 relationships broke up as a result of Godly teaching on dating!! I praised God for everyone b/c they broke up for the right reasons!! Guard those future marriages!
Phil 1.12-14 [NASB] Now I want you to know, brethren, that my circumstances have turned out for the greater progress of the gospel, so that my imprisonment in the cause of Christ has become well known throughout the whole praetorian guard and to everyone else, and that most of the brethren, trusting in the Lord because of my imprisonment, have far more courage to speak the word of God without fear.
Great teaching and does not skip the hard verses.
There is such a need for good curriculum and I am glad that it is being made available. …bring on Eric Mason for the next book of the Bible!!
Been sitting under Driscoll’s preaching for 11 years and it never gets old. Sometimes I can take it for granted, but lately I’ve been just amazed at the power of the Holy Spirit working through him to illuminate scripture. He is killing it so far w/ our new Luke series. Knocking it out of the park. Speaking of Luke…Chandler on Good Samaritan, Rich Young Ruler, Shrewd Manager…Some of My favorite sermons! Preach it Chandler!
These guys are the real deal!
It is so great and amazing to see the lord working through these men and their ministry’s in both Texas and Seattle. Please keep them in your prayers
I love how Chandler opens each sermon… “Hi, how are we? Alright. Luke 12. We don’t have a whole lot of time today…”
Phil 1.21 [NASB] | For to me, to LIVE is CHRIST and to DIE is GAIN.
Right on!
Love the passion in Matt Chandler’s Phillipians teachings. He breaks it down in a way that I can taste what is going on in the Bible. He grips my attention and keeps me focused. Thanks.
We are introducing this Phillipians Bible study to our home group tonight. We can’t wait to see what God does.
I’ve been listening to Matt Chandler religiously for some time now. He is a strong proclaimer of the Word of God and he has really helped me delve deeper into my own spiritual life. I love that he uses his church as a springboard to get people involved with Christian community and motivates them into their own Bibles. May God bless us all.
philippians is my favorite book of the bible! i’m glad that matt chandler’s teaching on this book.
This sounds like it will be an awesome series.
I am an SDA teacher who has used and recommended your resources over the past 7 years. Thanks for this opportunity to receive more!
I wish I was able to be at Catalyst again this year, Chandler killed it last year.
I love how I can hand anyone a sermon from any of these 3 guys and 45 min later have a great discussion about a topic they wouldn’t touch before
It seems like a lot of people have been doing Philippians lately, even so, this would be a great resource.
So I’m just going to put this out there… why hasn’t anyone caught on and tried to abolish this prosperity gospel?
Looking forward to learning from this series!
This man’s sarcastic humor draws my affections toward Christ, I love it.
Tommy Nelson is the only reason I miss living in the city! .. oh and family too π His expository teaching set a new standard for us.
I really feel that this is what Paul preaches against out of Galatians. – you have turned away and grasped a different gospel which is really no gospel at all –
I can’t wait to hear Matt speak at Catalyst this week! He packed a wallop in the 15 or 20 minutes he spoke last year. This year I hope they turn the clocks off and let him communicate with the Spirit would have Him say! It’s great to see more leaders like Chandler emerging who aren’t afraid to stand up for the gospel, but do it in a way that shows grace and mercy to the lost and conviction to the saved!
Last one: I flipped when I heard Chandler’s Two Wills sermon.
(I used Flip in every comment – does that help my chances?)
Phil 2.1-4 [NASB] | If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Phil 2.1-4 [The Message] | If you’ve gotten anything at all out of following Christ, if his love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart, if you careβ then do me a favor: Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. Don’t push your way to the front; don’t sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.
i was predestined to win haha
Im in Johannesburg, South Africa and sat up to watch Chandler in the one vodcast on the hub. The internet has made it possible for amazing growth in good christian material and im s listening to the usual suspects (Chandler, Driscoll & Piper) every week
Tommy Nelson is an outstanding teacher. By using his Bible studies in our small group, we are growing in our faith and strengthening our family. Thanks for offering these great resources!
I would really love to learn more about Philippians. Glad someone is doing this!
Chandler’s teaching and the rapid growth at The Village just shows that people want truth. I love Chandler’s ability to bring it, and he doesn’t just talk in abstracts but confronts the idolatry and sin in our lives and calls us to repentance. Its great stuff… Wish I was going to be at Catalyst.
There is no need to declare a tree by its name. It only needs to grow up gradually, to bloom, and to bear fruit; spontaneously men will recognize what kind of tree it is.
Wow I really really could use this!!! I was looking at getting it a couple weeks ago actually but couldn’t.
I just started leading a Bible study on my campus; with the only Christian fellowship on campus. Prayed about which book to dig into and it was phillipians. Alrdy did first part of chapter 1. So this would help tremendously
Phil 2.14-16 [NASB] | Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, CHILDREN OF GOD without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like STARS IN THE UNIVERSE as you hold out the WORD OF LIFEβin order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing.
Phil 2.14-16 [The Message] | Do everything readily and cheerfullyβno bickering, no second-guessing allowed! Go out into the world uncorrupted, a breath of fresh air in this squalid and polluted society. Provide people with a glimpse of good living and of the living God. Carry the light-giving Message into the night so I’ll have good cause to be proud of you on the day that Christ returns. You’ll be living proof that I didn’t go to all this work for nothing.
I’m also a multimedia production major so the Flip would be pretty perfect.
Chandler talks directly to me sometimes, I’m pretty sure. Driscoll’s teaching completely changed my mindset a few years ago.
Matt Chandler is a lo ver of Jesus and a lover of people. What amazes me is that (on his twitter account) he is ALWAYS talking about two things, Church and his family. Talk about a man who is changing the tide of America! And he’s in Texas!!!
Last time I had a Sunday off, my wife and I went to hear Chandler at the Village. Many of my attitudes toward church in the postmodern era were changed by visiting the church. Speaking truth in love and not trying to impress with anything other than the gospel. Good stuff.
And I’m writing a paper on Driscoll’s discussion of sin, humanity, and the cross compared to popular voices in the emergent church. Interesting comparison. Hub, thanks for making these speakers of Biblical truth available in this way.
So finally, my hope’s not in winning a contest or not, but have my faith in God’s grace, praying that I’d win, I would so appreciate it. Thanks
Love Chandler and Driscoll. Here’s to more of both from SOS.
oh and our youth pastor is also speaking on Philippians. Small world. Okay, that’s the last one. π
The Village Church, the church which Matt Chandler pastors, is like my virtual church. I listen to their podcasts on my way to/from work and as a result has helped me learn so much. But I have found it’s a great way to start and end my day too.
I’m going to Cat right now. Matt will be there
Thanks for the opportunity to enter this contest. The MET men will definitely be flippin’ for Philipians if I win a copy of Matt Chandler’s Bible study!
Loved the Vintage Jesus series you guys put out with Driscoll. Also saw him at the SOS in Ozark, MO in April. Now you guys are putting out a study from another teaching hero of mine in Matt Chandler. Keep up the great resources for the Kingdom!
oops; corrections to 9.10a & 9.15a comments: I wrote ‘NASB’ but they were actually NIV
Here are the NASB versions of those passages (cuz I’m sure you all are so eager to read all my comments):
Phil 2.1-4 [NASB] Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.
Phil 2.14-16 [NASB] | Do all things without grumbling or disputing; so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a (AH)crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I will have reason to glory because I did not run in vain nor toil in vain.
*One reason I love the NASB translation is because it is the most accurate word-for-word English translation out there–so there’s my reason for this post=)
the Philippians study looks fantastic!!!
my youth discipleship training teacher can’t wait to take our guys through the study
Worked at the Catalyst Conference a few years back. If you have an opportunity to attend, grab it. Great speakers, great fellowship, great atmosphere.
Awesomeness!!!
I’ve been through Tommy Nelson’s Song of Solomon study, and I started listening to Matt Chandler’s podcasts from the Village a few years ago. I have always been challenged by both of these men and love the way they present Scripture in such an easy to understand format. And they both have a great sense of humor!
Oh, and I really love The Resurgence site. Check it out if you haven’t seen it yet. There are some awesome articles/blog postings out there to peruse.
http://theresurgence.com/
Peace,
Erik
I am blessed to be under Matt Chandler’s teaching and leadership as a member of his church. He has been given an amazing ability to share the Word.
Mark Driscoll and Matt Chandler are two of my favourite Bible teachers! They’re able to unpack context in a way that very few can – making it deeply insightful and interesting while including some humour.
http://theresurgence.com/ = Mark Driscoll (and company) if you haven’t figured that out yet…
Matt Chandler is well worth listening to….grounded in Christ!
I cannot wait to see this study! I just KNOW it will be awesome! Thanks for making it possible. Best ~ Kathryn
Tom Nelson has been a hero of mine for more than 10 years, since SOS was originally published. I’m thankful to see our Lord bringing more great Bible teachers like Mark and Matt onto the national stage.
currently in Texas visiting my daughter, visited the Village via video venue and live, enjoyed both in their own unique way
Yay for Driscoll, Yay for Chandler and Yay for Philippians!
Matt Chandler is an amazing pastor and glorifies God with every action he makes.
Thanks for having the Flipβing for Philippians! contest. I would love to dive deeper in the book of Philippians with Matt Chandler. The Flip is just icing on the cake.
Love Mark Driscoll. He gets fired up…especially when he’s speaking to ministers.
Matt Chandler is the Flip’in Philippian bomb!
Love this series!
Phil 3.7-11 [NASB] | But whatever things were GAIN to me, those things I have counted as LOSS for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count ALL things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of KNOWING Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain CHRIST, and may be FOUND in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through FAITH in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith, that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being CONFORMED to His death; in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
Romans 12.2 [NASB] And do not be CONFORMED to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
[additional verse regarding conformity; don’t be conformed to the world, be conformed to His death]
This is a great set of prizes ! I would love to learn more about Philippians.
What a great new study! My husband had the opportunity to go to Catalyst, but can’t unfortunately! Maybe next year!
Phil 3.14 (<<Pi!! =)) [NASB] | I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
There’s always something new to learn ! This is great π
First heard about Song of Solomon teachings through a conference I went to a few years ago in Huntsville. Excited to hear more from Matt Chandler.
This is wonderful, I would love to win!
The Philippians study is outstanding. It simulates a sermon and immediately going to a small group to discuss what you just heard – something that we don’t get at church. The questions In the guide drive at the heart of the matter. I highly recommend the study.
Phil 3.18-21 [NASB] | For many walk, of whom I often told you, and now tell you even weeping, that they are enemies of the cross of Christ, whose end is destruction, whose god is their appetite, and whose glory is in their shame, who set their minds on earthly things. For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.
Phil 17-21 [The Message] | Stick with me, friends. Keep track of those you see running this same course, headed for this same goal. There are many out there taking other paths, choosing other goals, and trying to get you to go along with them. I’ve warned you of them many times; sadly, I’m having to do it again. All they want is easy street. They hate Christ’s Cross. But easy street is a dead-end street. Those who live there make their bellies their gods; belches are their praise; all they can think of is their appetites. But there’s far more to life for us. We’re citizens of high heaven! We’re waiting the arrival of the Savior, the Master, Jesus Christ, who will transform our earthy bodies into glorious bodies like his own. He’ll make us beautiful and whole with the same powerful skill by which he is putting everything as it should be, under and around him.
Phil 4.4 [NASB] | Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!
Matt Chandler is my hero. I live in Texas and have never heard anyone preach the gospel to the Bible Belt culture like he does.
I’m looking forward to listening to this series.
Matt Chandler is the best- the Hub is pretty sweet as well! I’m a poor college student who could use both of the gifts!!! =)
I just got finished reading through Phillippians and this resource would be a big help in teaching my Jr. High students sunday morning. Matt Chandler is a great communicator
Phil 4.7+8 [NASB] And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.
The new site is awesome! Keep up the good work & God bless.
I’m so glad Tommy showed the pic of Yoti on Sunday. π
Phil 4.13 [NASB] | I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
Matt Chandler is awesome. I first heard him at Metro in Houston and he really lays down the truth and is hilarious!
Phil 4.16+17 [NASB] | For even in Thessalonica you sent a gift more than once for my needs. Not that I seek the gift itself, but I seek for the profit which increases to your account.
This is some pretty self-less love! Something to strive for!
philippians wrecked my life. thank God for that book
TShis is great! Thanks
Phil 4.19 [NASB] | And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Chandler is a tremendous servant of Christ. What a great opportunity.
Matt Chandler is as good of a Bible teacher as thier is our there… Love Him and his message on Forgetting the Past changed my life.
Dude, I “snuck” in Matt Chandler’s New Member’s Class… Hearing the guy line up Romans 1 to Colossians 1 was killler… one of the most amazing presentations of the gospel I’ve ever heard.
I seriously wonder what Mark Driscoll’s necklace collection looks like.
Mark Driscoll and Matt Chandler are leaders who God is using to reach a new generation of people. They glorify God by holding to the truths that the Christian faith has upheld for the past 2000 years, not the past 15. I love it. Soli Deo Gloria!
Tommy Nelson’s study on Revelation was outstanding many years ago. I wish there was a way to bring that series back (hint, hint). I still have the original cassette tapes but some no longer work.
Phillippians is one of my favorite books in the Word!!! I LOVE IT!! If anyone out there hasn’t read it, do so. It will bless your socks off!!!
I am a blessed man … get to hear Chandler live every weekend.
Jesus Christ changed my life at the Village! Such great news!
Many times I’ll listen to music to find some direction to the Word of God…If I feel like the Holy Spirit is leading me to a particular song, I’ll listen to it and find parallel/relevant passages to the whole song, the chorus, or even just a line from the song. I do that a lot of times, especially at school or the city, where it could be tough to focus with all the noise/madness around me.
I like Mark Driscoll’s preaching.
I like Matt Chandler’s preaching. And he has a cool voice.
First heard Chandler when a friend said he had found maybe the best preacher he’d heard. I was like, yeah, whatever. But then I listened and kept listening and now I’ve listened to everything. Matt is used by God in a crazy amazing way. Thanks for this study.
You can’t preach the Gospel without the Cross and I thank the Lord for teachers like Chandler who live by this.
I went to SOS conference with Tommy Nelson a few months before I got married.
It helped. A lot.
Thanks, T-Dawg.
Matt Chandler is the flippin man!
So people who have nothing to do but post comments all day are most likely to win? Nice.
Seriously though, I love Pastors Mark and Matt, and their teaching is greatly used to continually point me back to the cross. In particular I like the way they’re able to speak to their respective cultures really well – Matt to the dechurched and Mark to the unchurched, because in my context (Ault, Colorado), we have growing numbers of *both* types.
I would like to go to one of those conferences. It would be nice to hear more pastors like Matt that preach truth and not just to tickle the ears of the believers.
First heard Chandler speak last year at Desiring God and I have been a huge fan ever since. This series will be a great resource.
I take to heart Matt’s “Tools…not Rules” principle when studying God’s word. It’s about “when” and “how” to me. Answering that question and truly submitting to what God is communicating to us daily in His word, not looking at it as some plan for your life. It’s not going to answer every question I have, but will show me the redemptive power of Christ.
I’m impressed with how Doug and the Hub has focused on speakers such as Matt, Tommy and Mark. These guys have proven to speak solid Biblical truth. They are more concerned with the power of God than the wisdom of men.
I really love how Mark Driscoll and Matt Chandler are so capable and gifted in their ability to convey God’s word in a way that is meaningful and impacting to all those that choose to listen.
Gotta love Chanandler Bong.
Yesterday I was doing a little research on the past and current hip hop culture and I read about how so many twisted ideals have infiltrated the hip hop movement. This comment may seem irrelevant to this post but it got me thinking more about truth. How as Christians we have compromised the truth at times for relevance sake. I don’t just want to be relevant, I want receive direction revelation from God, backed up by HIS word. Thanks for presenting truth.
I go to the Village Church on the weekends sometimes and I love the worshipful atmosphere there. Bleecker does a rockin awesome job with the music and then Chandler comes out and slaps you upside the face with an amazing truth from God’s Word
Chandler tweeted about this giveaway and that’s how I knew about it. I hope I win. I would love to show this series to my college group
Then there’s Driscoll… I dunno where to even start! Driscoll has definitely shaped and impacted my life with his teaching. I love how he takes the deepest doctrine and then brings it out to me and tells me how to apply it to my life in the simplest of terms.
pick me! π
haha (repetition is the key to understanding)
Tommy Nelson has given me biblical and practical insights that I find myself reminded of again and again that help me in my marriage. thanks!
pick me!
haha (repetition is the key to understanding) π
I just read the comments above about, ‘We want to hear your comments and feedback about truth and how you go about learning Godβs word’ so I’ll tell you. I learn the word in a few different ways. The most effective way is through reading, nothing flashy here, just simple reading. The more times I read it, the better I learn it. Another way is through memorizing portions of it. This will reinforce things I’ve already learned. I also learn it through hearing it taught. I subscribe to both Piper and Chandler, and listening to them will always teach me new insights. The final way would be through reading commentaries. A good commentary is also handy to have around.
Moving from the north to take a pastorate in Texas I have found Matt Chandlers cultural insites very helpful in adjusting to the new place. His teachings have helped me to see the historical challenges that come with spiritual growth in the south!
Phil. is a great book…
My husband has recently began listening to Matt and he loves his on-the-edge humor.
Something I love about Matt Chandler is he seems so real! And that makes him easier to relate to
Three things about Driscoll and Chandler I am encouraged by:
1) They are unashamedly faithful to the Gospel
2) They have a burning passion to train, raise up, and release young men
3) Their hearts are rend for the lost
Looking forward to hearing Chandler at Catalyst.
My husband and I were given the Song of Solomon Series by Tommy Nelson as a wedding gift. By far, one of the best gifts we were given. How wonderful is it that the Lord allows us to share with others the True Gift in Christ Jesus!
good stuff! all three of these guys are great teachers and you can tell they are passionate for the gospel
From what I have heard through his own illustrations and the stories of others, I have been encouraged by Matt Chandler’s commitment to his family and his passionate love for them, his commitment to grow in Christ through personal devotion to Him and through repentance, and his real love and care for those close to him. That, to me, speaks volumes more than his sermons (though those have been immensely helpful to me, too). All evidence of God’s grace… to Him be the glory!
I just finished reading phil. and I am thinking of going through it again in a small group.
I’ve listened to Chandler’s stuff since The Resurgence conference in 08 in Seattle…. pretty sure I’ve listened to just about everything the guy has said. All the more reason I’d love this study!
Keep up the good work and stand firm in the Truth!
I have seen chandler in other stuff and he is good
Josh, how many times did you write in?
Chandler has a way of getting to the core of Biblical truths in a relevant and practical way like no other. I can’t wait to hear each new message by him.
Catalyst has given me some useful tools in my everyday walk and these are some of the best guys I know who can really speak to my heart.
Yes. My fiance and I are reading through Philippians! Matt Chandler is the junk!
and Matt, Mark and Tommy rock
Plus I could really stand to get a free camera considering I am looking to make some videos for youtube and would like something besides my iSight
Great contest! Matt Chandler is awesome and I’ve been wanting to hear this Philippians series!
Another excellent Philippians related resource is John Piper’s candidating sermon on Philippians 1.
http://www.desiringgod.org/ResourceLibrary/Sermons/ByScripture/34/1823_John_Pipers_Candidating_Sermon_at_Bethlehem_Baptist/
Our home group is using the Philippians study right now. It is absolutely fabulous. The thing so often missing after you hear a sermon is taking the time to process and share with others what you learned and what challenged you. This study accomplishes just that. The questions posed by Matt on video and the study guide make for great conversation and press for the painful but necessary process of self examination. If you go through this study and pursue the Lord and deal honestly with yourself, you can’t help but be challenged by what you hear, humbled by who you are and are not, and blown up by the fact that our glorious Savior came and saved us in our helplessness and wickedness.
Despite the Flip’in for Philippians title, the bible study sounds great.
Matt Chandler has been instrumental in the Holy Spirit tearing down my bitterness issues with the Bible Belt (where I live), and Philippians is the book that the Lord really spoke to me at my conversion. This is great.
I really appreciate Matt Chandler for his ability to speak heart splitting truths in a relevant way. He thinks and speaks in such a way that he answers a lot of the questions that I would have throughout his sermon because he has already thought about that topic from his law background. His sense of humor is subtle and sarcastic…just the way I like it. Any pastor who can talk about the things he talks about and sprinkle in Star Wars and Ghostbusters is one that I love dearly.
Matt Chandler and Mark Driscoll are on the starting line up of our Theological Dream team. The starting line up is M.Drizzle, Mattlock, Johnny Pipes, Hammer (Paul Washer), and John Calvin (randomly). The ministry of these men are affecting more people than they know…even in Houston…the “Bible Belt”…lol
…and I agree with the first person that commented. I love that Mark and Matt aren’t afraid to preach the truth even if it might not be popular.
I love how Matt and Mark speak the truth! They are not afraid to say the hard things as Pastor Mark has said “Hard words produce soft people.” I appreciate that about both of these men!
…oops I forgot about J.Mac (John Macarthur). He is our center on the Theological Dream team.
Excellent! I appreciate the substance and depth that men like Matt Chandler bring to the study of Scripture.
pick me!
Matt brings the word home in a relevant, realistic, responsible way!
Matt’s sermon this week was awesome. It looked at prayer and provided a great exposition from a reformed perspective.
I’ve heard Mark Driscoll and listen to his podcast, but haven’t had a chance to hear Matt Chandler. I’ll definitely give him a listen now.
Even before the site name change to “The Hub”, I loved reading everything you guys sent us :). Hubby and I signed up for your newsletter during our “Premarital” counseling days as a way to do devotionals together (long distance). That was an amazing time. Thank so much!
I’ve never heard Matt speak. Anyone know the topic?
Just watched Pastor Mark on Nightline. Great stuff. Thanks!
http://abcnews.go.com/Nightline/10Commandments/ten-commandments-pastor-preaches-worship-modern-day-idols/story?id=8712532
We went to see him a couple of years ago for a SOS study. Til then I had never heard of him and thought I might be disappointed since it wasn’t Tommy speaking. We did not leave there disappointed! Matt was a delightful speaker.
I’m from the northeast and am going to college in OKC, needless to say it was something of a culture shock. Matt Chandlers podcast has been really great in combating a growing cynicism about the bible belt. Thanks.
This sounds awesome! What a way to promote a new series!
I’m with Josh. These guys are so legit. I’ve learned loads from Chandler and Driscoll and Piper and etc.
I’ve never seen a contest that allows you to enter numerous times like this.
I think my favorite Chandler message is “9 Pastoral Prayers” I love the heart he expresses!
Can’t see my comments… hopefully they’ll be posted
Also I really dig the more intellectual guys like Tim Keller and D.A. Carson. Though I appreciate the common-man modded intellectualism of Driscoll and Chandler.
I listened to Tommy Nelson’s Song of Solomon’s before I became a believer and it really changed my view on what dating, courtship, and marriage is supposed to look like. I continue to listen to the series at least once a year as a reminder.
My husband introduced me to Matt Chandler’s preaching and I would move back to Dallas to attend his church! He is gifted at speaking truth and his transparency encourages this desire to have an intimate relationship with the Lord and a real relationship with our community. I always look forward to his sermons every week. I have definitely shared a lot that I have learned through his sermon podcasts with friends.
I can’t wait to his Philippians series!
I always enjoy Matt’s teachings, the clarity and depth. He has a unique way of drawing you in and then sending the teaching home on a personal level.
Russell
I love that these teachers are not ashamed and are willing to speak the truth!
Great stuff…love his preaching of the truth,…sometmes hate it to
My Sunday school teacher introduced me to Matt Chandler and Mark Driscoll, and I’ve been so blessed by their teaching! It’s so refreshing to have people preach BOLDLY on the word of God and that fear God more than man.
I wanna Flip Philipp. Who let the sleeping dog out of the bag.
The first time I heard “To live is Christ, death is gain” was at a summer camp that Matt rocked about six years ago. My standard for a good communicator of the gospel has never been the same.
Thanks for the info! I hate that we live so far from Highland Village – we’ve seen Matt speak several times and love his teaching.
Jazzed about this series from Chandler…and the flip of course.
I’m also a big fan of Mark Driscoll because he lays the Bible out there very plainly. No confusion on what he is ever trying to say.
Matt Chandler has been a real encouragement to continue to preach the word through some very tough circumstances over the last several years. Driscoll has inspired me to speak the truth no matter what. These guys are great men of the word. I admire them greatly, just as i do each of the men above. I’ve dreamed of going to Catalyst but money has always been an issue for our church so it has been impossible. I hope to some day!
I really enjoy getting my emails with the video’s it really gives me a lift turning the day. It helps remind me to focus on what is important.
robbing peter to pay the piper? we’re all in the same shoes? i’m can leave mixmatched cliche comments all the day long.
I’d like to win
I’m starting a church for 20-year-olds and could sure use this!
i’m can = i can
Love “my buddy Matt” and would love to share this series with our life group!
don’t cry over cookie crumbles. what goes around must come down.
My iPod is always playing Chandler and Driscoll!
Oh and i’ve been podcasting Matt and Mark for about a year and a half now and under their teaching I have learned so much. A hard copy of matts bible study would be wonderful.
Matt Chandler is solid in his Biblical teachings!
Looking forward to watching this video series!!
Mark Driscoll is a phenomenal speaker and teacher. I would love to win both prizes…
Can’t wait to dive into this study with Chandler…….. I’ll even video myself during with my new Flip camera:)
Where did my original comments go? Oh well, I am praying for you Matt Chandler as you speak at Catalyst. Looks like some serious acts are going on there. Preach the Word bro, stay faithful to the ministry God has called you to.
As a former athlete, I love hearing the original context of Phil. 4:13. Instead of “using” this verse to help me win a race, I can have confidence in being content in Christ whether I win or lose!
Matt Chandler’s sermons have been a key factor in our spiritual growth as a family. Our 13 year old listens to the podcasts of both Driscoll and Chandler and is growing tremendously! Glory to God
Living in the Seattle area, we love to watch the Lord work through Mark Driscoll’s ministry and the Mars Hill church body. Although we do not attend there because of the 1 hr commute, we are blessed by their ministry to this area!
“Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, and not frightened in anything by your opponents.”
have to be my favorite verses from Philippians. may all who read this be encouraged.
I think the thing I like best about Mark Driscoll, Tom Nelson, and Matt Chandler is that they don’t believe their own hype. They’re in this to speak truth and exalt God.
I love Tommy Nelson. The Song of Solomon series was wonderful, but his book on Ecclesiastes is my favotire (A Life Well Lived).
loved the nightline piece on idolatry….
This series would be awesome for my small group.
I really enjoy watching Driscoll deliver God’s Word with passion and zeal. And is has been a great joy to watch the Lord take Matt from faithfully delivering God’s Word to college students each week in Abilene, to faithfully delivering God’s Word to his flock in Dallas. Both Men of God who passionately pursue Jesus Christ. Their passion and zeal is both contagious and motivating.
PRAISE GOD.
This series really would be helpful. Oh, sorry I already said that.
This is a great study, Matt is a man of God!
I haven’t heard Matt’s teaching yet, but I love Tommy Nelson’s. He’s my favorite Bible teacher, ever. His teaching is always insightful, challenging, and presented in an interesting way. He has a way of bringing something new even to passages I already know very well. He definitely has God’s anointing upon him.
Driscoll was on point last night on Nightline. It is awesome they come back to him as the voice to represent Christianity.
I have the priveledge of hearing the word preached faithfully each week at the Village Church. What I like most about Chandler is his realization that he can do nothing outside of Christ’s grace.
ok. I’ll leave some relevant. Feel like a cheater just leaving nonsense. Moved to Dallas to attend the Village 2 years ago from Longview. Had been listening to podcasts and felt like there was something there for me. I grew up in church, which I know is the common back story for most Village attendees, but listening to Pastor Matt was the first time I felt like I was being education by someone who was completely confident of what they were saying. That it wasn’t just a passing “idea” or an “opinion”. It was taught as if it was truth, which is great because it is Truth. It was the first time I believed that the person teaching had wrestled and prayed and taught with authority that was given to him.
I’m so thankful for the SOS ministry. Tommy Nelson’s series helped me over a major breakup. I kept listening to the CDs over and over again and the healing power of the Word of God mended my broken heart. I have sinced passed it on to friends who were going through divorce or separation and, lo and behold, they too experienced great comfort and healing. I thank God for Tommy Nelson and the series that has so greatly impacted my life and the lives of countless others. Thank you for praying and paying the price for the revelation God has given and continues to give you and those associated with you. My heartfelt thanks!
I appreciate Matt and Mark not for their giftings as speakers, rather for who they are as men and fathers.
Philippians is one of my favorite books. I’m thankful for Chandler’s faithful exposition of this beautiful, challenging text.
What an event u all have planned! Wish I could be there! Hallelujah Jesus! If extra spots open up please let me know!
Keep up the good work…..Tommy has been such a great influence on so many. It is wonderful to see the ministry expanding.
Staying in the word is extremely vital. Each day I start out with worship and devotionals from daily scriptures schedule studies for the first 1hr each day (1st fruits, 10% given to God prior to beginning our work tasks).
Studies are essential. Thank you for your dedication to feeding the spirit w/i others to keep God first & foremost in helping to find ways to build a solid foundation for ones daily walk.

My husband and I always listen to Matt Chandler’s podcasts. They are awesome
and have helped my husband and I grow tremendously!!
i really enjoy listening to both chandler’s and driscoll’s podcasts. they are great teachers.
Huge fan of Driscoll, Nelson, and Chandler. We have the Vintage Jesus DVD curriculum and the old SOS VHS study for youth. On of our small groups used the VJ study and enjoyed it thoroughly! That same group will be using Philippians starting shortly! Thanks for the great Content! When is Darrin Patrick going to start recording or Jeff Vanderstelt? π
Thank you guys for devoting your time, talent and treasure to the teaching of God’s Word and the advancement of His kingdom. I love the guys you have been picking fir your series and am super stoked to get a chance to hear Matt Chandler, a powerfully annointed preacher, teach Phillipians in this new series. I would be honored to recieve one from you guys The Hub.
looks like a great study to go through. appreciate his teaching.
Greatly enjoy the teaching and preaching of these three men, especially Chandler and Driscoll. They are phenominal with the text and contextualize the gospel extremely well to reach our generation with the timeless truth
I like the fact that Matt Chandler puts his faith in the truth of the Word that he preaches rather than in himself. He knows that regardless of how harsh or unpopular his preaching and teaching may sound, it is truth and it will not return void. I am thankful for men like Matt who rely on the truth of the Word and not gimmicks to draw a crowd.
I’ve been blessed to attend a church that preaches God’s word, but since every day of the week is a good day to hear the gospel, it’s been great to listen to Chandler and Driscoll by podcast.
This I know, that it is a blessing to see men pouring out their life to further the gospel of Jesus Christ. And because of this thing called technology, I being in a completely different state am strengthen in my walk Thanks
I am thankful for the courage of all of these men to profess the good news of Jesus Christ
Matt rocks!!!
I love how Chandler thinks rationally and points to Jesus…God has used him tremendously in my life.
As a young dude, I seriously look up to all these guys, especially Driscoll and Chandler because I am more familiar with them, but the model of their lives and preaching is something I desire to emulate.
I saw Matt Chandler about 2 years ago at the Song of Solomon conference in the Woodlands, He is an awesome speaker and pastor!
If I lived in the Dallas Ft Worth area I would be at his church, hands down!
I can’t wait to hear the Phillipians series!
JBP
Your stable of talent is amazing…Driscoll, Chandler, Nelson…none better! Keep the Truth coming!
I’ve heard great things about this series! I’d love to win the DVDs!
i hope everybody is ordering this cirriculum…your other stuff has really been terrific for our small group.
Rock on New Calvinists!
As a Bible College student near Bournemouth, England, I would just like to spread my appreciation or Matt Chandler. Although this is an age where we as Christian’s easily elivate the ‘famous’ Christian speakers to celebrity, which I’m not trying to encourage, Matt is someone whom I look to within his context as a great role model as an aspiring teacher of God’s word. I love the way the Spirit is so abundant within him, so much so it’s an overflow. Although I don’t want to be an imitator, as Christ has created us all uniquely I do love watching him and picking up some ‘tricks of the trade’, it would be a true priviledge and honour to be able to see you in person as a preacher. Thanks Matt for being someone that us Bible College students can truely look up to as an aspiration in preaching, church leading and family living. God is using you in big ways.
Only 421 comments? Really? And letting us post multiple comments may prove to be bad…
I really appreciate driscoll and chandler making all their sermon material available for free on the internet and my wife and I have grown a lot through hearing them faithfully preach God’s word.
wow the comments have absolutely multiplied since I commented this morning. Glad so many are paying attention π
looks awesome!!!
Thanks for the contest!
I’d like to win…
Definitely could use this! Currently leading a Bible study on campus. Hoping you guys pick me!
We are so blessed to have Pastor Matt as our pastor. Thanks John Piper for your ministry that lead us to Pastor Matt.
Ahhh, the faith of a child. I do not usually post to win things thinking someone else deserves to win but my 11yo son is standing here saying “post, post, post!”
You guys have made a difference for Christ in our family. My husband and I bought the “Song of Solomon” on Cd at one of your events years ago. I could not attend the event due to not having a sitter but figured listening to the sessions on cd was better than nothing. It changed our lives and our marriage! The benefits of your teachings will be passed from generation to generation in our family. And seeing as how we have 6 children so far, that is alot. It will be part of our wedding gift to each of our children and their spouse. Thank you for being a part of our past and our future. I would love to learn more of these teachings!
Have fun counting and selecting!
I love being a part of The Village Church and living an obedient life displayed by the leadership.
I am a campus minister at Colorado State University. I’ve been showing Tommy Nelson’s Song of Solomon video for years and it is a consistent favorite among our students. I am looking forward to checking out the Philippians study.
Praise God for all the new technology. With it, we have been able to tell millions of people about our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. Through email, Facebook, etc., we have been able to reach out to those who may never have had the chance to hear about Him. Those who’s government(s) wouldn’t allow us to come to their country(s) and share the Word of God or even talk about God are able to use their computers, cell phones, i-pods, not only to read and hear about God, but actually have discussions, ask questions, learn about Him, even accept Him as their Lord & Savior, without their government ever knowing!!! God works in mysterious ways!!!
Tommy Nelson is an amazing speaker!
And I’m flip’ing stoked to have the privilage in commenting about a few amazing men the Lord has really used to further my walk with God! As a fresh new walking christian(2002ish) I read one of Tommy Nelsons book, “song of solomon” because well in a non-christian dating realm, dating looked MUCH much different than how dating looked in the light of how God wants dating, pursuit, marriage to happen I needed new eyes…so I read that book to gain wisdom in this area of my life. And it was with that book, I gained a whole new, enlightened to TRUTH outlook on “dating” but really helped me in viewing things a bit differently!
And years later 2005 I moved to TX and found my home at The Village Church, where Matt Chandler has been a huge blessing in my growth and walk with the Lord! Matt is a very gifted speaker, one whom seems to speak to able to speak and get to the hearts of the young and the “old”… I love serving and being a member of the Village church! I love going to church and walking away, sometime blown away, or could be at time a slap in the face, by Matts message; either being challanged, convicted, makes you think and think deeper, challenges to look deepert into your heart, the challenges and encouragement he gives to us to fight hard and harder to become more like Christ, to remind us to glorify Christ in all He’s done…You can see his heart in hiw much he loves the Lord and how much he wants us to Love Him too, you can see him (matt) yearn for us(the body, believers and non) to walk deeply with the Lord, to Love wholeheatedly and praise our God…you can see how much he loves when he speaks on sat and sun. And to me you can see how much he also cares for each one of us sitting in the sancituary knowing our name or not, member or attender, you can see his compassion for his each one that is there! And along with his compassion comes, what I like is TRUTH! Good ‘ole hard truth! Which I’m sure is hard to preach but he does and he does it well. Since I’ve moved to Tx and get to have Matt as my Pastor it has been the best/worst growth I’ve ever had! Meaning sometimes growing is hard, difficult, challenging and at the same time oh soo good! I have been told by friends how excited they are for me, in that they can see an extreme amount of growth and I have to thank you Matt and village in that as well as others!
Thank you for all you do!
Blessings
Jen
what an awesome giveaway! thanks for making it available.
I became familiar with Tommy Nelson through the SOS Conference. This past year our Sunday school class used his Ecclesiastes series and it was a tremendous encouragement to me as I was going through a time of questioning God’s sovereignty. I have never heard Matt speak but I know that your materials are all great! Philippians is one of my favorites so hope I hear from you!
I have been following the work of Mark Driscoll and Matt Chandler for several years now. They are both gifted speakers, preachers, and teachers. I also very much appreciate how freely they share resources through their podcasts and websites such as the Mars Hill Church (http://www.marshillchurch.org/) and Village Church (http://www.thevillagechurch.net/), the Resurgence (http://theresurgence.org/), Acts29 Network (http://acts29network.org/), etc.
They are also doing a lot with social media that includes Facebook and Twitter and YouTube which helps distribute the Gospel.
I think what is most remarkable about these Pastors is that they preach the truth without watering things down or making their sermons “politically correct”… NO, they speak the truth in the face of culture – and yet their churches are growing. Which demonstrates that people are hungry and looking for the truth.
I admit I haven’t heard much about the Catalyst Conference, but I do like the mission of equipping the next generation of leaders to reach an ever increasing secular culture.
along with the SOS specific teachings, I’ve enjoyed reading Tommy Nelson’s book “A life well lived”. Great illustrations and insight into the book of Ecclesiastes.
Matt, you are the man! Pick me, pick me……
blessed beyond measure to be a part of The Village Church! Matt Chandler is an incredible man of God.
Thanks for the myriad of opportunities you afford all believers around the world.
Never heard of this conference. Sounds great definitely a need.
whee!
Wow..lots of comments! recently found Matt Chandler on here…always loved his stuff on Resurgence and Acts29.
Forget the free camcorder! I just love Matt Chandlers sermons! I would love to have this!
May the Lord bless this study to the fullest. May the Lord get all the glory from it. May a multitude be edified and come to a full understanding of what the Lord is conveying through Paul in Phillipians. And Lord, as the men of God in the past would cast lots to hear from You, please let the lot fall on the right person You choose to bless this camera with. Thank You for these men of God who are slaving for You so that others may come to You. May you bless them 10 fold and continually keep them accountable and safe from the enemy.
We love listening to Tommy tapes! Well, actually they’re either cds or online.
We have especially enjoyed and grown from the Song of Solomon series. It would be great to get those translated, one day! So far, we are passing them to all of our friends who speak english.
I love Chandler..
“I got news. God’s in a good mood” – Bill Johnson
Tommy Nelson has been a blessing to hear preach the Word. I first enjoyed hearing him teach the Metro Bible study back in the mid-nineties when I lived in Texas. He’s been a great resource to turn to now that I am a pastor. Keep up the good work!
As aforementioned, I definitely could use this! Currently leading a Bible study on campus. Hoping you guys pick me!
Matt Chandler is one of the first guys I’ve heard to call out the Religious Right on their self-righteousness, and at the same time maintain a faithfulness to orthodox theology that is sadly absent in the emergent movement. Carry on, soldier!
Can’t wait for Catalyst.
Matt Chandler’s sermons on “Games People Play” really hit me where it hurts – I’m grateful for his willingness to tell the truth even if it means some folks will leave the church.
Matt’s Luke series is great as well. If you haven’t, get the podcast and listen.
Chandler has incredibly helped me see the pride and “puffed up” spirit in my own flesh and through the power of the holy spirit begun to beat it down into submission. Driscoll was good on Nightline last night. It would of been nice if the segment was longer though.
The Hub is doing some great things in aiding people to better know the Word and ultimately live cross centered lives. So thanks a ton for all the resources.
Matt Chandler has played a huge role in my faith and I’m hoping more and more people will become passionate for Christ through the Philippians study!
The giveaway was a great idea to get the word out about this study. It sounds interesting; I would like to check it out!
Our Sunday school class has used every video series that Tommy Nelson / The Hub has produced so far and we are currently going through Philippians with Matt Chandler. The 30 minute video segments of verse by verse expositional teaching through books of the Bible followed by excellent small group discussion questions is exactly what we’re after. Resources like these, unfortunately, are rare. Keep making these great videos!
Matt,
Thank You for all the work that you do for the Lord. You have truly blessed and enriched the lives of many others. Please continue to follow the steps of our Lord and keep up the good work that He has started in you.
Serving together,
Joe
I am really looking forward to getting my hands on this Philippians study. I cannot wait to hear what God is using Matt Chandler to speak to us concerning His word for us in the letter from Paul.
This comment thing is absurd but I’m going to only add to it in hopes of winning!
I have downloaded every Chandler sermon since 2003…….daily listening and teaching……I’ve grown so much through his teaching.
The Harvest is still plentiful!
Tommy Nelson’s study on Ecclesiastes really helped me to understand spiritual formation more deeply.
I am going through the book of Phillipians with a group of girls and would love to use this series!! My husband is in a worship band and we spend a lot if time on the road traveling… One of our favorite things to do is put in a Matt Chandler sermon to pass the time! We love how he preaches directly from the Bible, isn’t afraid to speak the hard truths and has a new and fresh perspective!!
I love listening to Matt Chandler. He is a very good preacher and communicator. keep the good stuff coming.
I give a set of Song of Solomon CDs to every couple that I do pre-marrital counseling with.
I would love to have this! the series…not as much the camera
Since I first head Chandler in February I’ve gotten many people to listen him in hopes that they will see and desire deep, passionate, gospel-centered preaching. I’m always glad when I can introduce someone new to the teachings of Matt Chandler.
Dude, Matt Chandler taught on Philippians for student life beach camp and there was a big spirit of conviction every session. God is mighty to work in Him.
One of my favorites is Philippians – I’m always on the look out for ways to get my kids pumped for the Bible. Plus my 9 year old would love to make movies with the flip!
This is great. Keep up the good work.
Matt Chandler is a very good speaker, very passionate.
He is also able to vary his tone and volume according to what he is talking about, good voice control
How exciting! The winners will be very blessed! Thanks for offering this!
Went to Tommy Nelson SOS in Riverside a few years back. That was so great and eye opening!
Love Philippians!
I also love John Piper. He is so sincere and transparent. Let’s also not forget that he is a brilliant thinker, author, and pastor. I love that all of his stuff, including books, are free on his site. I really believe that he is not in this game for himself, but to spread his satisfaction in Christ. To me, he is the modern day Luther or Calvin.
Mark Driscoll’s preaching has made me a more studious disciple of Jesus. He has been an example to me of a pastor who both rightly handles the word of God and one who knows the times and makes the word clear to the modern hearer.
I want to use this Bible study for our college ministry.
I hope I win but I want to get the series anyways..can someone show me where to get it?
Flip and Phiippians…woo hoo!!!
Philippians 1:9-11. ALL to the glory and praise of God. seeking with all my heart. thank you Jesus!
Matt Chandler & Mark Driscoll are both amazing teachers with a great passion for the truth and love for the Bride!
Does Philippians 4:13 pertain to me winning this thing?
In it to win it
Hoping for the best, Chandler consistently blows my mind
Thanks for this chance to win. I praise God for you.
i want it!
i want it more than will does
Can’t go to Catalyst 09 but would love to hear Chandler’s Philipians studies.
I love Matt Chandler’s heart for the people of his church. I love how he yearns for them to know the Good Word
Looking forward to the study. Philippians is a favorite!
How we need the instruction you have so faithfully provided the Body of Christ. God give you strength and wisdom the carry on doing such wonderful work.
Hey… I’ve read Philippians but I don’t have a Flip Video. Are you thinking what I’m thinking?
Currently studying the book of Daniel with a Beth Moore study. I am loving it!
Our Pastor did an indepth expository teaching on the book of Ephesians. It lasted three years!
All of these guys are quality teachers… I would love to see Tim Keller on this list… Voddie Baucham… JD Greear… maybe even a few of Tommy’s contemporaries who preach the Word.
You did say to leave as many comments as you want – just sayin’!!!!!
Driscoll and Chandler are my two favorite teachers right now. Giving God’s Word without apology and sticking to what counts.
Yes, another comment! Because I DO want to win, and there’s so many good things to say about these guys. Is it ok to appreciate that Chandler says his love language is sarcasm?
I’ve never heard anyone address Song of Solomon without shame and Driscoll did it with flying colors. Coming from background where you “just don’t talk about that”, its quite refreshing.
The exposition that Chandler, Driscoll, and Piper pull out blows my mind. One verse explodes into an enormity of truth.
Last one, I am blessed by Piper, Driscoll, and Chandler because they don’t shy away from God’s glory being of first importance. Fight for joy!
God Bless this ministry! Tommy Nelson has been a blessing to our family.
Hey, any chance to hear Matt teach for free is pretty slick *(:
thanks Matt Chandler!
how are we?
let me unpack this for you
are you trackin with me?
selah
This seems like a great teaching. Thanks for sharing.
Love the Phillipians series.
I just listened to a Mark Driscoll sermon on idol worship, and now I am not dead-set on winning the camera. It would be nice for taking candid video of my kids, though! π
a flip camera
waits for its winner-to-be
digital daydream
I encourage everyone to watch the current series Driscoll is doing on Luke. It’s epic.
The HUB Rocks!
Enjoy Jesus friends.
The camera would be a bonus — I would love to check out the phillippians series though.
My ultimate hope? The cross of Christ. Having said that, it would still be pretty cool to win a copy of the study and a FLIP. π
I second that Michael, love Driscoll’s series on Luke. Dude is just killin it!!! It’s definitely sparking some growth spiritually
Wow lots of pots. Everyone wants a free phone and Chandler!
Matt Chandler rocks! I saw him at Liberty University two years ago! God Bless!!
Amazing giveway… I wanna flip for Philippians too!!
Yes please, and thank you.
gotta love Chandlers “How to study the Bible”
anybody else enjoying the Luke series at MHC?
I’ve enjoyed SOS being broken down by Tommy… “Hey fawns!” It’s been a blessing to me and many others. Thanks for your ministry and commitment to God.
Yes, please and thank you.
The emerging reformers are doing a great job for the church today! Thank you for preaching passionately, teaching with authority and loving selflessly.
Tommy Nelson, the Romance Guy, will go places that no one else will go, when he takes you through the Song of Solomon. Fasten your seat belt for some mind-blowing lessons about one of the oldest books of the Bible – it will definitely surprise you!
Kind Regards,
Gregory Howe
Thanks for sharing the Word in such a creative and blessed way. Watching the previews of the new Bible Study I can tell it will be a huge blessing. Keep the good work!!
Tommy Nelson is hilarious!! No one tops his Song of Solomon study…awesome!
Philippians is such an amazing book! Our daughter memorized it and has presented it for several groups. Recited or read aloud with the passion of the author–Wow! It is so powerful! It makes it easy to Flip for Philippians!!
I was at Hill Country Bible for the S.O.S Conference with Mark Deiscoll!! What an amazing Conference it was!!
Matt Chandler is awesome!
I like Matt Chandlers transparency. I strongly believe his transparency is what allows his ministry to reach so many of our younger people today!
Excited about the opportunities God is giving me to teach and proclaim His Word. Matt has played a huge part in putting shape and structure to those opportunities. God is good.
Look forward to viewing the study on Phillipians. I have really enjoyed past studies [SOS, Daniel, Ecclesiasties] by Tommy Nelson.
I am a Village podcaster from Houston. Although I’m not a part of the Village church, I’ve been overwhelmed by the message of the gospel preached there every week. I’ve thought about moving to Dallas just to be a part of the work that God is doing there. I pray He continues to keep them far from pride and rooted in the truth and depth of the gospel.
pick me
or me!!!
pick me! pick me!
i would like to say one more time. pick me. but i’ll probably say it again
like now. pick me.
i would like the phillipian series…please
I attended the Song of Solomon conference about a year ago. I continue to review this awesome material. It has changed my attitudes about relationship and frankly it won’t let me settle for less. I can;t wait for it to come back around again ! Good luck to all the contestants !!
JESUS HAS PLANNED THIS AND HE WILL FINISH IT, TO GOD BE ALL GLORY.
Philippians 4:6-8 ~ My daughter was having bad dreams and she kept her bible open to these pages at the end of her bed every night. This book is fresh for us today! Thank you for doing another great study. I have had Song of Solomon and plan on making it a wedding gift to my children one day! Great stuff!
We are so blessed to have men of light sharing what God has imparted upon their hearts with us. So grateful for their honesty and their teachings.
Ever since I was younger, Philippians 4:13 had been my favorite verse. From getting through temptations throughout middle and high school to getting through hardships in college and doubting of myself, it truly is Christ by whom I can do all things!
Excited to get a chance to win this study!
I’ve been listing to Matt Chandler for years and try to go to the Village whenever I am in Texas. God’s really used him to speak truth so clearly into the lives of many including me.
Thank God for technology and here’s to using it for his glory!
I’m excited to enter a chance to win these incredible teachings. I wonder how many comments will be entered by the end of this? My guess is 2500-3000. They should have a contest to guess how many comments will be made.
wow, there are a lot of comments. not sure if we are consumed with Phil. or Flip?
Oh how I wished I lived in Dallas so I could attend the Village Church.
Having known and served with Matt (on occassion) since he was in high school, it is exciting to see how God is using him today.
Can’t wait to dig into this study!
Would love the opportunity to win this great prize! Thanks for the offer!
I’ve been a fan of Matt Chandler’s since Abraham Piper posted the YouTube video “Jesus Wants the Rose”… Been listening to his teachings ever since. It would be great if he did a conference in Montana (although I wouldn’t blame him if he didn’t).
Love the insights that I’ve gotten from Tommy Nelson in the past and I always learning new things about God’s Word. And I’ve always enjoyed studying Phillipians. Would love to win!
Phil 4:4-9 Are such amazing verses! They have carried me through the darkest hours of my life! Would love to win this gift!
Oh did I mention I want the Flip?
Phil. study would be a nice addition.
Can’t wait to see what the next teaching series will be by the guys!
This study sounds amazing! Thanks for making it available. Blessings ~ K
Thanks for the contest, wish I could win the phillipians series. Gr@ce & Pe@ce
1 more time fo ya mind:
Thanks for the contest, wish I could win the phillipians series! Gr@ce & Pe@ce
I would love to have that little flipcam, what a handy little thing. Wouldn’t it be incredible to televise the Phil. teachings on the jumbo TV over times square?
Love solid teaching and would appreciate the Philippians study — would help out a ton for personal study as I am currently leading a college Bible study going through Philippians.
Love solid teaching and would appreciate the Philippians study– would help out a ton for personal study as I am currently leading a college Bible study going through Philippians.
Really hoping to win the Philippians set, though whoever gets it will be putting it to good use!
So yeaah hope I win =)
Can’t wait to do this Bible study soon! Love how God speaks through Matt! So blessed to be a member of The Village!
I would love do this Bible study, right now I’m studying Colossians, and it would be great to study another epistle.
hook a brotha up. thanks
I’ve only recently heard some of Matt Chandler’s sermons online and have truly been amazed at how gifted this man is in conveying TRUTH. I can only imagine how this study through Philippians will not only challenge, but encourage those in their personal walk with Christ.
I’m in…
Mark Driscoll is the man!!!!!
Matt Chandler is the man!!!!!
I’m the man
rather, i’m just a man
btw, what ever happened to sister “smell good” and sister “look good”? did they ever get along?
excited about catalyst… hope to run into matt.. that’d be cool… maybe he’ll buy me starbucks…
Having listened and learned at the feet of Matt Chandler since April, 2004, not only have I learned of God’s love, grace and mercy for me as a follower of His, but I have learned it from a person who not only preaches humility but lives and breathes it from the pulpit each weekend! Not only that, Matt challenges his staff and congregation to the same standard he follows. I can only imagine how impacting Philippians is!
a bit confused though… his talks at desiring god and messages from the village seemed conflicting… he called td jakes, ed young, and a few others great bible teachers from a message i heard from the village sight.. but then seemed to say something different about them (in general) at desiring god conference… any clarifications from anyone? just curious…
Hook it up!!! π
Driscoll is an amazing teacher!
Matt Chandler helped leave moralistic deism behind and embrace the cross and Christ. I now know how to live missionally and what my calling is as a Christ follower.
I’m excited at the possibility of having a a study led by Matt Chandler. He is a great preacher and is sarcasm is awesome!
It’s my birthday. I’m 22 today!
Matt Chandler is one of my favorite podcast pastors.
My family and I were on a spiritual journey searching for a church in the Southeast Houston area. We attended several churches ranging from the extremely legalistic to the extremely liberal. During said search, I searched online for solid teaching. I found Mark Driscoll, Matt Chandler, Darrin Patrick etc. I was amazed at the aggressive Bible teaching that I heard taught from their pulpits (and others). It was like a fount of fresh living water that I was desperate for.
Thank you.
Fellow follower,
James T.
Tomorrow’s my birthday!! π i’ll probably head here again and “put in another raffle ticket” π Thx
oh wait i said ‘tomorrow’ but the time stamp says october 7th so to you guys… it is my birthday already…neat π
I thankful for being able to listen to Matt Chandler, my former pastor, even though I live all the way in Hong Kong. Thanks to The Hub for bringing this to everyone.
excellent idea!
609 We’re still using your study material 7 years after the first one – our old home group is re launching! We had 4 couples and one child to start and now we have 20 adults and 22 children amongst us – thanks to SOS… looking forward to the latest studies here is New Zealand. 611. π
Love your teaching! Very challenging!
Thanks for great teaching! It helps me get through!
God has truly used Matt Chandler to preach to thousands of broken women & men, couples, college students, elders and anyone, to speak Truth to their hearts and really share what the Gospel is all about. Thanks man!
Sounds cool, is this teaching going to be available elsewhere also?
Would love love LOVE to hear Matt speak over this book of the Bible. I read his blog as to why he chose this book for this series and it just sounds like it would be so amazing!
Wow. Thanks everyone for the great responses. Keep them coming! – Eddie, The Hub Web Admin
I seem to be falling behind in the amount of posts.
Eddie, does your #615 post count towards winning? j/k
Tommy Nelson’s Ecclesiastes study was fantastic. We use the DVD based study and everyone enjoyed it. We will be re-running the study at our church very soon for those that missed it.
We are planning a S.O.S. study for adults Fall of 2010 or Spring of 2011.
In 1999 I heard Tommy Nelson speak at a Campus Crusade for Christ conference. It was that night I gave my life to Jesus Christ. Since then I have spent my life living and learning under capable teachers. I had placed Tommy upon such a pedestal in the realm of Bible teaching. Only a few men have, in my opinion, made it to his level. Over the past few years Mark Driscoll has become one of those men for me to take comfort and rest in his teaching, and to sit at his feet and learn deeply from the Word of God. Today I am a pastor myself, but I would have not gotten where I am today without men like Tommy and Mark. I have had little contact with Matt and his teaching, but if he is capable to be paired up with these two men, I highly anticipate his Philippian study!
Blessings
Our youth ministry will be conducting their S.O.S. study in combination with our adult study.
The combination of adult and youth S.O.S. studies will hopefully encourage family discussions.
Eddie, any chance that Tommy Nelson’s Revelation study might be updated and available for purchase?
God is amazing and continues to press into me daily and remove the things that i hold ultimate. It’s tough but I desire to live out the tattoo on my arm: John 3:30
He must increase and I must decrease.
More of Him and less of me. It’s important that the verse mentions Jesus increasing first because I cannot decrease unless I put more of Christ in my life. He comes first and is ultimate and when I worship him daily and crow closer to him I fill up with His glory and my pride and earthly desires lessen.
Chandler has helped to show me this as well through his teaching from scripture.
We just started studying Philippians in our small group. What an encouraging book. The Lord has blessed Matt Chandler with such a gift of speaking the truth. I am excited to hear what he has to say about Phil.
Tommy Nelson spoke on depression at DTS.
Philippians is a great book! The preview of the material sounds great!
It was interesting to see Tommy Nelson’s change towards depression from his first to his second discussion at DTS.
After sinking into a depressive state and dealing with physical difficulties due to depression, Tommy Nelson agreed that it is important for people to seek out not only God but help from Christian doctors as well.
If you have a chance, it is worth viewing Tommy Nelson’s two videos on Dallas Theological Seminary’s website concerning depression.
A few βinsightsβ from a blog about one of the Resurgence Conferences that made me smile:
βPiper doesnβt have a TV and wouldnβt plug it in even if Mark bought him one.
Mark was thankful that Piper gives him and Chandler some slack on the rope, and Piper just doesnβt want them to hang themselves.
Piper makes fun of the music at Mars Hill.
Chandler has a photo of Piper on his fridge.
Piper thinks that Doug Wilson has a bunch of dumb guys around him (cue the Driscoll and Chandler fist pump).
We are still in the dark how much Piper can bench press.β
Can you tell I’m a big Tommy Nelson fan?
I appreciate all of these teachers in the way they proclaim the Bible. Fearlessly. As a future pastor, I have learned much from these guys. Thanks for all that you do!
Something Matt once said that was funny in a way, but also very convicting and encouraging:
βLet your wife worry about your clothes. Buy books and study. We donβt need any more well-dressed, hip, funny, heretics. Who cares how you say it if what youβre saying is wrong?β β Matt Chandler
You asked about learning God’s word. Our church has been using the “Bible in 90 Days” series since it first began. This is an excellent way for every person to make themselves available for God’s spirit to speak to them.
The Bible in 90 Days helps introduce the Bible to beginners and places them in a supportive group setting.
This is so great!! A great Biblical based study that pushes us to the Father, and not our ideas of spirituality
Also, The Bible in 90 Days is an outstanding way for any person to keep God’s word close to your heart each and every day.
Thank you for this ministry!
Thanks Mark Driscoll for your faithfulness to the Word of God. Blessings on you, your family, and your ministry.
Lokking forward to viewing this study! Thanks for the email!
Pick me, Pick me! I’m all about it baby!
Praise the Lord for the word we receive in Phillipians and for the great teacher and man of God he has blessed us with in Matt Chandler.
This is a great resource. Thanks to M@ Chandler for serving the WORD and to all those balcony people who made it all happen.
Wish I was going to be at Catalyst to hear Matt speak. Great teacher.
Matt Chandler rocks! Praise God for the internet and the ability to hear so many of God’s annointed messengers. God Bless Catalyst!
I was talking last night to some of my new Dallas friends and we all had such good things to say about Matt Chandler. One of the main topics is just how funny he is!
Can’t wait to get this Philippians study
This is a great giveaway!
I am currently chewing hard on the first 11 verses of Phillipians 2. Learning how we can go about living among each other and reaching the world around us by looking at the incarnation of Jesus and how he reached out to us.
P.S. Matt Chandler is high on my least of favorite preachers and I’d be pumped to win this prize!
I love the book of Philippians
Glad to see this is working today
I couldn’t get it to take a response yesterday
Really looking forward to this study. I’ve found Tommy Nelsons teaching on the book powerful. I’ve followed Chandler for a while now and anticipate great things!
The way I’ve learned has been through their no holds barred approach, not like other panty waisted heretical preachers that are trying to keep you in “church” by making you feel good.
Matt, Mark, and Tommy don’t really care about making anyone feel good they care about doing whatever it takes to turn us to Jesus and keep us facing Him to make us a part of the Church.
Moses
Excellent give away. It makes me want to look into the other studies being offered.
Not sure what I want more than the other, but I guess I will take both since you are giving them away.
What a team of teachers you guys have put together…keep spreading the news and encouraging/equipping the saints!
Listening to Driscoll’s “Vintage Jesus” series. Excellent stuff.
Small groups are a great way to learn more about God. God is in each of us and the fellowship we have is important to our spiritual growth.
I love Philippians! And I love free stuff!
I just noticed the Free MP3 Teaching downloads by Tommy Nelson below the “submit comment” button.
These MP3 downloads are good stuff.
I would love to win this so I can hear Matt Chandler unpack Philippians. My husband and I have been wanting to buy this bible study already. Hope we can win it!
I haven’t had a chance to see Mark Driscoll live but I’ve heard nothing but great things.
Good morning hopeful flip and Philippians winners. Could this be the lucky entry?
Or perhaps this one?
I have to admit that the only reason I know of the Hub is through Matt Chandler. I’ve actually never listened to a sermon given by Driscoll before. My only knowledge of Mark is through Acts 29.
I’m very interested in the Romans series but the cost is extremely high…not saying it’s not worth the cost, only it would take quite a bit to purchase both sets.
what did we do before podcasting?
love Philippians..so hoping to win this!
how I got here? Twitter -> Resurgence -> Chandler -> here….
I’d totally “flip out” if I won this package!
I wanna win
“Iβd totally βflip outβ if I won this package!”
As would we all.
I do think it is necessary to say that Mark Driscoll and Matt Chandler, etc, would not be who they are without the influence of guys like John Piper, Tim Keller, and Don Carson. They in turn wouldn’t be who they are without the influence of guys like Calvin, Spurgeon, and the Puritans.
This would be an amazing tool for the girls I lead every week!
“Their lives portray dysfunction and emptiness, but are totally transformed by the Gospel.”
This is gonna be an excellent study! Perfect for our Western Culture.
Nearing 700 posts…amazing how the word “free” draws a crowd.
Just got a tweet from the web admin saying thy want 3000 comments by the close of this event. We need to get to work people. Pick me!
It would be nice if the Catalyst Conf and others would have live web feeds. Who has the money to travel to all of these events?
When this thing is over there should be around 3000 comments. What are the chances that one of is chosen? I smell a statistics project?
Thanks for connecting with me again. Blessings!
Wow 700! I would almost post 700 times myself to get the Philippians Study.
Just paid 90$ for running a redlight…I could use something for FREE!
If we have around 700 now and we should close around 3000… then I just need to post approximately 2000 more times (give or take a few) to get a good chance.
I know that God is going to pick who He wants to have these free DVD sets…but I really hope it’s me!!
Another day, another chance to hear a great Word!
Philippians is phantastic.
Daily devotional is a great way to learn God’s word.
If I had to choose, I’d rather have the Philippians study versus the camcorder
I’d like to get that thing free. Fo sho!
Only 3000 more posts for me and I might have a chance at winning. π
Greatly enjoyed hearing Tommy speak in Charlotte, NC back in 2000 and something. Glad he is doing better.
Matt has always been a gifted communicator. I met him when he was leading a college Bible study on Thursday evenings in Abilene and we were both students at Hardin-Simmons. I even had him do a student retreat for my youth group. I am excited to hear that he is speaking at Catalyst.
Win or not, I think I’ve found our next class study.
The Hub….LOVE IT!
I have loved Matt Chandler ever since he taught at Metro Bible Study in Houston! I can’t even imagine how great this Bible study focus on Philippians will be. I can’t wait to dig in!
Matt Chandler doesn’t pull any punches. I am encouraged by a leader who preaches hard, and leads out with authority.
I still don’t think it is as good as the name I submitted on facebook….”The Hills of Bether” hehehe
Thank you all who work so close with the Hub and bring the gospel to so many people! I love listening to Tommy’s videos! They are absolutley awesome!
It is Wednesday and I can’t wait until Sunday….we are going through a video of non other than Tommie Nelson and it is awesome!
Almost done with work, can’t wait to go home!
What a beautiful sunny day! God is soooooo good!!!
The most important thing about all three of these men featured here at the Hub is that they are passionate about the Gospel message. That is what is missing from most churches and the world can see it in the brokeness of the Church. I am grateful for God’s leading in Tom, Matt and Mark. Great source for great materials.
“Oh the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God” If you haven’t heard ‘The Cross’ series done by Chandler I recommend you go to their website and download it.
Have I won it yet?
What a great strategy to 1. get your website out there and 2. to get your product out there. Isn’t the Flip really third to both of those things?
I see a lot of talk on here about Tommy Nelson and his videos, I’m not too familiar with him.
hey dad i love you. awesome idea!!!
Again I say rejoice!!!!
SOS still rocks!!!!
We attended the Song of Solomon conference a couple of years ago and Liberty University. WE have been blessed by what we learned, took a great deal of notes and as the Marriage Ministry Coordinators of our church have shared a lot of the principals. We purchased the CD set and have shared it with a young couple familiar with Song of Solomon. They recently shared information about romance and sexuality at our Fall Marriage Conference: “Becoming One: Spirit, Soul and Body”! We look forward to what we know will be an excellent teaching series. Thank God for you and what your ministry is doing for the body of Christ.
Samuel and Gail Thompson
I have been listening to Matt Chandler’s sermons on podcast for quite a while now. Something I enjoy about his sermons is that he breaks down the common ideology of those who have grown up in church (specifically baptist churches) their whole lives. Very convicting and eye-opening. Good for our generation.
I’d love to be at an SOS conference some day.. Hopefully this will get me started with the new Hub organization if I win π
we finally made it over 700 comments. It seems that they’ve slowed down a bit today though. It’s starting to make me curious if we’ll make it to 3000.Hmm…
Geez, I just realized that only 6 comments have been posted in between my last 2 comments and it’s been 2 hours. Yesterday that number would have been around 100-125 comments. Are my odds increasing? Only God knows the answer
well. i’m now down to a 5 in 715 chance of winning. haha
1 Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus,
To all the saints in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons:
2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 I thank my God every time I remember you.
4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy
5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now,
6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
7 It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart; for whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me.
8 God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.
9 And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight
10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ
11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christβto the glory and praise of God.
12 Now I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel.
13 As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ.
14 Because of my chains, most of the brothers in the Lord have been encouraged to speak the word of God more courageously and fearlessly.
Thank God for inspiring minds like these!!
15 it is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill.
16 The latter do so in love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel.
17 The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains
18 But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.
19 Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, for I know that through your prayers and the help given by the Spirit of Jesus Christ, what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance.
20 I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.
21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
22 If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know!
23 I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far;
24 but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body.
25 Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith,
26 so that through my being with you again your joy in Christ Jesus will overflow on account of me.
27 Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel
28 without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be savedβand that by God.
29 For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for him,
30 since you are going through the same struggle you saw I had, and now hear that I still have.
i cannot get enough of this chapter
I am upset that I will not be at the Catalyst Conference this week. I have been in the past and it is probably the greatest gathering of Christian leaders. This year’s line up is unbelievable and so diverse. I look forward to being able to purchase the different sessions to listen to. Leaders from all over in so many different areas providing very useful, applicable information. Awesome. Not to mention it is great to break records and have fun along the way!
I honestly believe when a community sees the Church as the bride of Christ and not the institutional Church we will experience a little bit of Heaven.
Revelation 21:22-24
Had a chance to listen to one of Matt’s sermons and it was great! Really challenging and made me think about how I often cling to my own goodness and forget that my identity is as a forgiven sinner.
Seriously… If I had the money, I would have bought this … yesterday.
I’ve really appreciated the teachings of Craig Groeschel and Mark Driscoll during my own times of confusion.
Wow! Rejoice again I say rejoice. A really positive study to do!!.
God has used Matt Chandler as His voice in my life to stretch and challenge me for several years now to grow closer to Him and take the Cross more seriously.
This sounds really exciting! I love Phillipians, and many of the beginning
new testament writers. I’ll have to do some more reading about this later.
I noticed someone said that it includes Tommy Nelson. I just love his
passion!
Driscoll’s teaching on church discipline really shed some excellent light on the issue. It has helped our church walk through a couple issues.
Show me the study! Can’t wait to see it for myself, I watched the live online interview a while back and am excited to get my hands on it
Driscoll’s SoS series really helped my wife and I understand marriage and each other better – I’d say it’s a great message for couples to hear.
Philippians is my “go to” book!
Philippians is the book we have picked to go through with our youth group. Would LOVE this package!!
Another great teacher is Mark Driscoll. I love him for many of the same reasons I enjoy Matt Chandler. The dude knows his stuff but presents it in a compelling way that many can understand. While his talks are for the most part serious…and loud…he does sprinkle in the every once in a while joke to lighten the mood. I love what he has done at Mars Hill and for the city of Seattle. I love the fact that there is not ounce of fear to teach the Bible for what it says. He does not shy away from the hard stuff even though it may cost him members, listeners, and followers. It’s not about him anyway.
I first heard Tommy Nelson’s Song of Soloman series in college. That was over 12 years ago. I still remember the lessons he spoke of and the passion he has for God. I would love to hear the series again…and again, and again!
you got to be in it to win it….I’m in
Hello.
How can you not like Chandler and Driscoll? They’re awesome!
reading ‘Knowing God’ this morning on the way to school. What a fantastic piece of literature. Keeps reminding me not to make God in our image of what we think he “should” be, but to worship him as he has revealed himself in the Word.
Have I won this event yet?
I would have bought both the Roman and Philippians series if A. I had the money and B. They weren’t so expensive. But that’s why I’m going to win it! right?
I wish I could pick Matt Chandlers brain when he’s teaching this week at Catalyst w/ non other than Rob Bell…hmmm. On the other hand he gets to meet Tony Dungy and that’s pretty cool
I like how you can now “rent” the series on the Hub. That is a fantastic alternative for those of us who cannot afford to buy them outright. Thanks Hub
Epiphany- The Hub should take a lesson from Desiring God and offer their material for free! Ta-da!!
I’ve got to keep up w/ Michael Newsom. He’s been doing some mad commenting. Perhaps I too should quote scripture, it would increase the odds…wait…God’s sovereign never mind. He gives to whom he wills.
Rain rain go away…..it is rainy today π
I can’t wait to see how many posts actually get submitted! haha, it has got to be in the thousands already
Does anyone have any good homemade remedies for a cold….trying to get lots of sleep and drink lots of water but i just became a daddy 2 weeks ago and so the lots of sleep thing sure ain’t happening!
Ughhhhh!
Yippee, it is Thursday!
Only one more day left for this game!
I want this contest to be over. They should of made it only 2 days. 4 days is going to be way too long.
Can fall be any better in Utah. Leaves are turning red and yellow and colors in between. It’s beautiful. Pick me!!
These college courses I’m taking sure are boring. I know how they can be spruced up….Philippians DVD!!
Favorite Bible verse: “oh the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God. How unsearchable are his judgments how inscrutable his ways. For who has known the mind of the lord or who has given him counsel? Or who has ever given a gift to him that he should be repaid? For from him and through him and to him are all things. To God be the glory forever. Amen” Romans 11:33-35
seriously…zoning and land-use management could really be spruced up by Matt Chandler and the Philippians DVD.
Has anyone listened to Tommy Nelson-The story of Jabez? I see it every time I post a comment and it’s making me curious.
pick me! pick me!
Got an internship yesterday, praise God.
βYou shall have no other gods before me.”
βYou shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5 You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.”
βYou shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.”
βRemember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.”
βHonor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.”
βYou shall not murder.”
philipians is one of my favorite letters from Paul. cant wait to see what Mark does with it.
βYou shall not commit adultery.”
βYou shall not steal.”
βYou shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.”
βYou shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.β
Praise God to whom all blessings flow! Praise Him all creatures here below! Thank you, Matt, for being used as a wonderful servant of God who speaks His truth plainly and clearly. I would love to hear your series on Philippians.
Cool.

I love what The Hub is doing. I was a fan of SOS when Tommy Nelson first started preaching it. Now, when our home group is searching for material for our next study, we look to The Hub. Each of the studies we’ve done has allowed us to dig into the word and grow. And it helps that the speakers are dynamic!
hubba hubba
Been a fan of SOS since Tommy Nelson, glad to see Driscoll and Chandler joining the team. Awesome!
It is driving me nuts sitting in my office while Catalyst is blessing everyone else in Atlanta.
What a great promotional tool the Hub has here. All of us posting, sharing the news with friends (or not so that we increase our chances…you know).
I love good, sound doctrine, and I love listening to Matt Chandler. Soli Deo Gloria.
Chandler is speaking right now at Catalyst 09′. I repeat, we need to have a lib web feed. I pray that God may anoint him and bless him through his speaking and the hearers may understand the depth of God’s mercies and grace.
I love The Hub and Doug Hudson. They have been so gracious to me. So much that words are often at a loss. I use Matt Chandler’s Philippians study with some youth in the Dallas area and they are growing closer to Christ as a result. That’s all you can really ask for.
Wish I was at Catalyst…
if i were a fuzzy wuzzy bear
i’d thank the Lord for my fuzzy wuzzy hair
Sometimes reading commentaries along with the Bible adds so much depth to the text. I praise God for such men who were burdened to write such things.
One more entry before class starts back up. Pick me!!
Thanks for all the rich truth in your teaching and preaching!
Funny how work gets in the way of posting.
Yet, your workplace is an excellent place to share God’s word.
If you would just give me the teaching you could give someone else the camera. Double whammy. Thank you matt chandler for your passion.
And you can have a ministry at work.
Christians often forget that the church is design to equip the saints. And as saints we are to share God’s word in our ministry environment…work, school, or wherever that may be.
It’s always exciting when God’s truth finds you. Sometimes it can be in ways that don’t expect.
If Billy Wells wins, I’ll take the camera =)
I keep thinking that everybody is searching for truth but few are willing to accept it when they hear it.
popular give-away. well done.
Just adding another post to win.
What future studies are in the pipeline?
The straight forward, gospel-centered preaching was what I was longing for it. It was the living water I knew was out there, but never tasted. Thank you Matt for being on your knees in submission to his will.
enough seriousness, this is about winning!! Pick this comment and you can win gratitude.
826 comment. This is the one
Philippians study = awesome!
Flip recorder is not too bad either π
Matt Chandler has the flow of the SPIRIT in this teaching on Philippians! Praise the LORD for HIS good and perfect gifts! May all of GOD’s proclaimers, including me, be such surrendered vessels for HIS Glory! CHRIST JESUS has given Tommy, and all of you at the Hub, everything needed for the task at hand! HALLELUJAH! AGAPE!
Just downloaded the Trial study book from Mars Hill’s website. Thinking about digging into 1 Peter myself.
I heart Bible studies.
Free teaching – wonderful. Praise the Lord that the internet has made such widespread access to sound teaching possible!
I would love to win this!!! So sad that I’m missing #Cat09
Would love love LOVE to hear this!
Praise God for so many years of faithfulness and example at a high level!. Keep on keeping on!
Phillipians is one of my favorite books. Would love to hear this series.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me Phillipians 4:13
I have enjoyed Tommy Nelsons teaching looking forward to the Phillipians study.
God bless you all for all you are doing for His Glory
So many tweets about Matt Chandler at #cat09!!! Nothing but good words all around. I would love to have this study!
Another shot to win
Fall break starts in 3 hours!!! I’m off all next week, good thing since I’ll be watching this DVD and filming myself doing so w/ my new flip
Why don’t any conferences come to Utah? Is it because we’re only 3% evangelical?
Memo: You(reader) should check out the Village website and download some of their incredibly useful FAQs.
Class begins in 8 minutes. Schools should not be allowed to schedule classes at 6:30 at night. Especially when they run until 8:30. Pick me, Pick me
Thank you for this opportunity!!
Well, I was going to try and post a single sentence everday but that didn’t happen and plus I get a bit winded!!!
Matt is a special gifted Man of God!
…and down the stretch they come.
I like the concept of this giveaway except I’m finding myself merely trying to post as much as I have time. I need to go back and read the heart felt posts.
Does this website have a suggestion box for future studies/conferences?
Because of this giveaway I’ve looked more into each individual mentioned and I’m finding a lot of great work.
On a not serious note, some of these posts are cracking me up.
We’re planning a church conference for Fall of 2010 but do not have a topic as of yet. I’m thinking everything here needs to be considered.
@ Lulu
Which one’s in particular?
Few more and we’re done
A little surprised we haven’t hit 1000 yet
Thanks. I look forward to hearing the whole study.
Philippians is a wonderful read. Finished it and look forward to the study.
My desire is that the person or group that truly needs this study will win. It would be fun to win but God’s will be done.
@M.G.F.
Pick one…
860th comment!!! Pick me
why does my address bar say comment 938, but the web page says 860th? Which one is it?
Looking for a church home can be a real drag. I’m grateful that we(my wife and I) can have the Village church to listen to while we’re searching. Podcasting is incredible, but it can never and should never replace the fellowship of the bride of Christ.
It’s late and I should go to bed. May God’s blessing and peace be upon us.
Matt Chandler is one of the top speakers in the world today. His fervor and tenacity for the Gospel leaves me yearning for more of Christ every time I hear him preach.
Love Philippians. Tommy Nelson is my hero.
We are part of a bible study group of early 50’s adults working for the US government in Okinawa, Japan. We have been so blessed to listen to Tommy Nelson’s Song of Solomon, Ecclesiastes, Daniel and now Romans. Thank you Tommy for how you have led us through the Lord’s word! Sincerely,
Andrea, Larry, Meg, Sam, Sook, and John
I represent an “Over 50” group Bible Study. We are 3 couples here on Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan. Two of our couples have known the Lord for many years, but the other couple has come to know the Lord in the past 4 years. This couple, Andrea and Larry, remind us of “how great a salvation and Savior”, we have. Since we started 4 years ago, we have done (the original) “Song of Solomon,” “Daniel,” “Proverbs,” and “Ecclesiastes.” Right now we are laughing and being fed wonderful doctrinal truths, through “Romans.” We all love Tommy Nelson and when we heard of his heart attack we began thanking the Lord for OUR SAKES that he has been given more time on this earth. We hunger after our precious Lord, Jesus, and His Word and thanks to Tommy, we love His Word more and have learned how to walk in it. The first time my husband, Sam, and I did “Song of Solomon,” we looked at one another and said, “Tommy Nelson sounds like he has been trained in ‘the Campus Crusade school of great speakers – in the steps of JOSH and Dennis Rainey’.'” When we found out we were correct we were even more excited as Sam and I used to be CCC staff here in Japan (now Sam is a Department of Defense Teacher) and met through CCC as Tommy and Teresa did! CCC made Biblical truths understandable and real to us! Tommy does the same. What a blessing that he is still breaking God’s Word by the power of His Spirit, here on this earth so that the Holy Spirit can take that Word and change us from the inside out! Thank you so, so much!
3 great teachers. I look forward to many great resources over the years from SOS…
This one’s just to try and win the Philippians study pack.
Man, I’d love to win this…
Took a look at Matt’s blog – Top 10 Reasons for Phil. Great stuff. Can’t wait to hear what he has to say about this great book.
Wow, our group has just started studying Philippians. What a blessing it would be to hear what Matt has to say.
I’ve also heard Matt is writing a book. Is that true?
Matt: I watched an interview w/ Matt a while back and he said that he was going to write a book.
I think we should be nearing 1,000 comments
so Nasa blew up a piece of the moon last night. how ridiculous that is
Well this is it, the final day of the contest. It’s been fun. I’m kind of dissappointed though that we didn’t reach 2000 like we were on pace for.
In all seriousness the pastors that have most influenced me are Chandler and Piper. I would love to win this DVD series and start a group around it. I’m always looking for new people to introduce to Chandler.
Well commenters/Hub host. I have to work now, but fear not I will be back posting after 5(MTN).
I have never heard Matt Chandler speak, but he must be a great communicator to be invited to Catalyst.
I haven’t been to the conference in several years, but hoping to go again in the future. It was inredible the last time I went!
Love Chandler’s preaching. This morning I listened to Defining Masculinity again which may be one of the best sermons I have ever heard.
Will Catalyst podcast Matt’s talk at the conference?
Sounds like a great encouragement to Christians, old and new to the faith.
The epistle to the Philippians is such a practical letter for the Christian church. I look forward to the entire study!
Driscoll’s sermon to men, as well as Chandler’s masculinity sermon, are awesome encouragements to stay faithful, and incredible kicks in the pants to help in avoiding sin.
My daughter wants to study Philippians – she doesn’t know it yet, but she wants to. π
I like Mark’s last comment : ) That sounds like my dad!
We’re coming up the home stretch! Mark Driscoll is my hero!
welcome, weekend.
Wow only 6 more hours of this contest. You know what I love about Chandlers preaching? Is that when he does series on Men/Women/Marriage it isn’t a Saturday seminar just for married couples. But preached Sunday to the whole flock, for those married or unmarried, college, singles, high school. It’s about foreshadowing and teaching the youngsters how to act when your older. Very encouraging
Would love a free study on Philippians!
Wishing everyone here to best of “luck” in winning this incredible teaching series. I hope and pray that whomever wins will use to to bless those around them and spread the Gospel to a lost world and shine the Light into the darkness.
Fellowship w/ believers is something to cherish. Separation from the flock can only lead to loneliness
I’m debating posting random messages to fill the space? Tick-Tock..what to do ?
Every time I open the word of God it’s new. Just consider that. A book you can read over and over and over and over and over and it never tires and yet we continue to collect TV stations and movies that we’ll never watch. All the while an inexhaustible resource is on our shelves.
Mark Driscoll’s way of communication & uunderstanding of Gods word is powerful!!!
It’s been fun living on this forum the past 4 days. We should do this thing again. Pick me!
I’ve always been inspired by the teaching of Matt Chandler. Whenever someone teaches me something that doesn’t sound familiar or bigger than I had imagined it causes me to search it out. Which eventually leads to upwards growth. Great teachers always expand your knowledge by drawing you up which fosters worship of a God who is inscrutable and unsearchable.
Well thank you Eddie for the e-mail. So folks let us see. Oh…so what about that Nasa moon missile launch? Are you serious? Tax dollars being spent there to find water so we could sustain life there? I echo C.S. Lewis who said, “Let’s pray that the human race never escapes from Earth to spread its iniquity elsewhere. “
Day 1: Lots of action, over 700 posts.
Day 2: Some action but large drop off in # of posts
Day 3: Still action but numbers are dropping like flies around a bug zapper
Day 4: Crickets!!!
Where are you people? I’m down to asking rhetorical questions to myself just to feel some community.
Okay, I really must leave for a moment. I have a sermon I have to finish, but I will be back before shutting down.
We are truly blessed to have such amazing teachers such as Mark Driscoll and Matt Chandler. I’ve been challenged and have grown as result of there gifted teaching. I’m hungry for God’s word, wisdom and understanding, and these great men of God truly help me see the truth in a new light. This new Bible Study – Philippians, looks GREAT. I just watched the promo and am looking forward to seeing more. BTW – Great site . . . I just stumbled upon this (The Hub) through a Tweet. I’m glad God has directed my steps tonight to find you online. Keep up the great work!
Spiritually, I grew up under Tommy Nelson’s teaching. If Matt Chandler’s style of teaching Philippians is anything similar to Tommy’s, I think I’d really love it. I’ve heard great things about Matt’s teaching!!
It’s late and my brain is beginning to fry. Working on sermons about an inexhaustible being can be humbling and tiring. Glory to God in the highest.
only 2ish more hours (2ish is not an actual unit of time).
Should I win something for posting the most times? π
watching Wizards of Waverly Place on the Disney Channel. There’s nothing wrong with a grown man watching Disney right?
Okay this is my last post. I must stop this and spend time with my lady. Perhaps I will have a nice e-mail waiting for me on Monday. Thanks for the competition it’s been fun. Good night and God bless all.
I think Tom J is going to win
So…uh…how ’bout those Yankees?
Mars Hill Blog is also a great place for stuff on the ‘other’ guys that work there π
I want to win!
Anybody been to the Village?
Just Got back from Catalyst 2009. Heard Matt speak at the labs on Wednesday and then again on Thursday at the main conference…
Matt is very challenging and encouraging…His talk on “The Gospel from the Ground and the Gospel from 30,000 ft ” was very refreshing on Wed.
Is any Catalyst 09 stuff online?
how can I get a hold of Mark & Matt’s material. I haven’t heard any of their teaching but would like to
good to see your great effort, may God bless and help you for the work you are doing.
